2011 is another 1.5 year of wait.....

Most likely MY2011 as the MY2010 ordering guide doesn't mention MCT or DI.

since I am already waiting for a 2010, I am tempted to wait another year for the 2011. That is a really long *** time though. MCT interests me more than the DI, unless the DI comes with a power bump like the porsches did.

Thats what I am waiting for and it wont be offered before the 2010 E63 coupe and sedan are out, that means 2011, which is 12 months out.So I will wait.

So far all MB DI powerplants have shown a power "bump" and better gas mileage.I believe the new 2010 E63 will have around 525 hp with DI.

Is the mid cycle refresh slated for 2011 or 2012?

Good question, now next question.I dunno?? I am sure they have to do something because I believe the new 3 series BMW is slated for 2012.

Was the W203 refreshed, or did it stay the same throughout?

I know the current E class (not the 2010) was refreshed with new headlights and such part way through the model. BMW always does it in the 4th year.

MB always does a facelift as for the baby benz they did it for the 190 series W201 and the W202,W203 and probably in the summer of 2011 (MY2012) for the W204 which should help sales against the new model 3 series slated for 2012.

+1

The original w203 AMG, the C32, had a 3 MY lifecycle (2002 - 2004). Its w203 AMG replacement, the C55, had a two MY lifecycle (2005 - 2006).

Given the C Class AMG precident, I actually wonder a bit if the C63 will ever get the MCT and/or DI, only because its replacement (C35 AMG perhaps?) will probably be a 2012ish MY vehicle. Maybe the last MY of the C63 will have a Black Series variant, with DI and MCT to boot? That'd be a nice offering...

Its been said that all AMG motors will be getting DI in 2010.But they would never come out with DI for the C63 before the new launch of the E63 series with DI. So common sense would tell me that mid summer next year the C63 will have DI for MY 2011, I hope at least.

I feel the same way...part of me will be upset if the MCT is introduced into the C63 - but having it come in 2011 wouldnt be as big a deal bc I wouldnt hav waited the 15 months - if its 2010 and I could hav MCT and only wait 3 month, then Id be pissed

I figure in 2 years Ill already be thinking about my next car anyhow -

You may be right - time will tell, certainly. My point was merely that the C63 will be getting pretty "long in the tooth" for a C Class AMG model by 2011, if it's even still around for that MY. The 2011 C Class AMG could be a V6 TT w/ MCT and DI. Maybe AMG will discuss this in more detail later this year (likely C63 replacement and timetable for its release) during one of it's Private Lounge chat sessions - would be nice to know.

What I like!
Direct Injection -- I'm skeptical after reading about problems with DI on the RS4 engine (as well as other engines -- not good)
This stuff is eye-opening and a must-read for anyone interested in DI:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258516

I don't think the new E63 is coming out with DI, is it? MB is probably still working out the "law of unintended consequences" (see above link )

As far as MCT, well, just read the SL63 forum. MB is still working out the bugs on that too.

If you want something fast, solid, reliable and with proven technology, it's the C63 in current form.

DI is already avalable in certain models in the European market to include the C350, you can get it without DI (272ps) or with (292ps). The Germans always get the new changes 6 months to a year before it comes to the American market, anyway I still want to wait until next year to order mine and don't get me wrong it's a hard tough wait indeed.

I believe that the new E63 (W212) has DI. With DI, it got a power bump, much like the DI increases for Porsche.

The question is: would you trade reliability of current V8 with DI and related problems and insignificant power increase?

Well then MB will be in trouble because they are putting DI in their 4,6 and 8 cylinder motors.
