Hey, for all you guys with the ipod hook up in their cars...Isn't the adapter supposed to charge the device at the same time it is in use? For whatever reason, neither my itouch or my iphone charge while in use.

Your iPhone's screen tells you that function is not supported when you connect it to the glovebox connector.

Yeah i know...that sucks! Same thing w/my itouch.

I think it's stupid as well. Don't know of a hack around it.

iPhone should go into iPod mode when connected and get charged at the same time. Apple gets so much stuff right. Surprised none of the developers thought of this. You know they all have music on their iPhones and many probably drive nicer cars with this option.

Tried this product. I-phone started working. I now can hook up my iphone without it and I don't know why. The compatibility message shows with or without it, but I can play music and charge the iphone

My car came with an updated COMMAND that has the ipod integration on screen as well as cluster. According to this site:

That requires a different part # cable... "A 001 827 84 04" for full iPhone 3G support on MY2008+ C classes. I believe the one you referenced is for the older COMMAND?

Are you talking about option 518 which supports USB drives?

We are talking about option 057 which is only for iPod/iPhones.

I think so, I can use USB drives on mine with a different cable, so probably. I thought all C classes had this?
