The best reason to go 20" (tire life)

My first set of stock tires (in the rear) were gone at about 6,000 miles (no burnouts). I then bought a cheap set of Sumitomo rear's which lasted until the car was at 12,500. I then went to 20's and I am approaching 20,000 miles on the car. I'd say the rear tires aren't even to 50% yet.

So upgrading to 20" wheels and tires, more than doubles the life of your tires. I am told by a shop that the 20" tires live longer because they are wider than stock, sit "flatter" than stock, and are generally "harder" because they are 25 series in the back as opposed to 40 series which flex more.

First time I hear you can fit 20s on a C63. Got any pics and specs of tires and wheels?

You can easily fit 20 inch wheels on a C63 if the tires have the proper ratios. For example, 245/30/20 front 285/25/20 rear would be perfect.

Those are both my cars! The white one ended up being a lemon. I had Pirelli's on there with 285x25...the silver HRE's are Invo's with the new 275x25...just wanted to try it out.

How do you get the 285 to fit without rubbing? I thought 19s might be pushing it a bit...wow..

Tire diameter doesn't change as you have less sidewall unless your order the wrong ones. 285 is the width not the height.

FWIW, 20s have too little rubber-- rough ride, lack of control. 19s as big as I'd go on a small sedan...

.

Here's mine with HRE Comp93.
20x10 and 20x8.5
285/25/20 and 245/30/20

The ride is ok, I’ve had a lot worse.

20" last longer because the availble performance is lower. You have to be more carefull as well.

The 18s will take you around a road track faster than the 20s. The 20s do not have any compliance.
