Thanks fellas,

In the next 2 weeks the car will be done, I was up last night doing some measuring etc my beast's about to get some wide hips.

Wanted to ensure the stance was perfect before sending her off to get some fender work done.

PS: It was always hard for me to photograph really how much concavity those HRE's have out back. This picture gives you a good idea. They are sitting on the floor

These are not stretched by any means. If I were running a 225 or 235 or a 9.5 then yes that would be a stretch.

Remember MB offers a 255 section width tire with their optional 19's for the C63. So while i agree that more mechanical grip via wider tires are better for our cars. I have to wonder why MB felt 255's were enough to be the OE sizing?

Mind you have I ran these same tire sizes last season without any issues on my HRE's.

But you are correct, I do fully believe the LM are an all time classic wheel. I had to do them justice on the C63.

thank you sir for pushing the boundaries.

Replica Rims Question

Hi I am in Europe and a guy is selling some replica AMG rims (picture attached), but before I buy them I wanted to ask the forum if in the US do your rims come with an general operating licence for aftermarket rims or in general for rims?

He told me normally no as the information is engraved in the rims but in Europe things are a bit more difficult as everything needs be documented. Does anyone know how to get an operating license if such exist?

Info I have:

18x8j et45
Bolt circle 5x112
JWL and VIA stamps
Load per rim

Hey Matt,

I will, I am getting the rear fenders massaged out and re-painted this week. So I don't have the car. But I will be sure to post a new build thread soon

hey guys just a question- will these wheels fit a c63 coupe ok? or will it push out of wheel well too much. i can roll fenders if needed

front 2 wheels 19x9" ET40 5x112 - semi concave
rear 2 wheels 19x9.5" ET42 5x112 - deep concave

I was looking for 19x8.5 front and ET45-50 rear. not entirely sure if these will work.
thanks!

The front will be perfectly flush with 245/35/19, that's what I'm running now.

The rear will be aggressive, you would need +50 if you want to run 265/30/19 or 275/30/19. +42 will work if you stretch a 245/30/19 or you could try 255/30/19 but it might be tight fit.

I'm running 255/30/19 on my oem with spacers... final ET is +44 on 19x9, so I'm not sure if 19x9.5 +42 will be causing rubbing.

In America we can buy pretty much any wheels available on the market, replicas included. No licensed needed when you purchase used wheels.

I would go 19's though, 18x8 is weak.

Thanks for the advice man appreciate it.

The rims are forgestar f14s. maybe ill keep looking around for a higher offset for rear. i dont wanna pull fender if possible and 245 tires are too thin for rear imo. id like 265 at the least. ideally wanted to lower the car aswell.

Fronts are; 19x8.5 +40 Offset 5x112 bolt pattern
Rears are; 19x9.5 +45 Offset 5x112 bolt pattern

found some bbs lm wheels with this offset. 8.5 might not be as flush in front but i can always add a tiny spacer if i need. rears sound like i could run 265s maybe?

those will fit fine. I have a set of BBS CH-R in that exact size with 245/35 and 265/30s lowered on H&R springs and zero rubbing. i run hankooks though because they have very round edges.

oh god no the michelin are better in every way, shape and form but they have huge square side walls. hankooks are cheap and have a very rounded side wall makes for fitting tires much easier. also when they last 5k miles it doesn't hurt the wallet as bad.

5k miles? hoping you meant 50k miles? lol and aslong as ride quality is still nice i dont mind getting hankooks for fitment reasons.

i remember having michelin supersport on my 350z and i got a slashed tire...replaced them with toyo proxes 4 cheaped out a bit...and i thought i had a constant flat tire.

Hey Jeff, u have 19x9.5 +45 with 265/30 V12? Are u lowered?

I had HRE P40 in 19x9.5 +50 with 265/30 V12 & it was tight fit lowered, but no rubbing. With 275/30 V12, I was rubbing on the passenger rear.

yes H&R springs. put the wheels on yesterday both back roads and highway no rubbing. I don't ever put anyone in my back seat though but even still I bet it'd be fine.

I read online about doing a toe adjustment on rear to get more life out of rear tires. Any truth to that? Anyone tried or found right settings? Read it can cause oversteer a bit more but I'd be willing to double the life of tires

I'd never compromise safety and handling just for more tyre life.
Might as well put cheapie no name brand tyres in that case

I run .15 rear toe. It makes them last a little longer and makes the back end less snappy at the limit. Before i felt like the rear would give out too suddenly under hard cornering. Now it's more progressive. And high speed stability still seems there. I did try .10 before but that did seem to sacrifice high speed stability.
