Question Helmet for the track

I've been trying to figure out what brands are best for the track, and I've found some threads with scattered opinions, but I was hoping to get a little consolidation / succinct reviews on both the helmets (durability, fitment, extended comfort, etc.) and the websites they were purchased from. See below for the threads I found going back to '08 (the two sites that have been mentioned thusfar are Censport and Helmet City). TIA

nrgy's AMAZING paint job. (parte deux)

Certification info.

Some chatter.

PS - check out nrgy's pictures. They are amazing.

I have a HBC racing helmet, black with a bunch of Mercedes benz, AMG decals placed, also a large MB Star on the top, it gets lots of compliments, it is comfortable.
There are a few guys I track with that use a Simpson Racing helmet, very nice as well...their site is http://simpsonraceproducts.com/

That is the major part when choosing a helmet. Comfort and vision. All modern helmet brands are pretty much the same in terms of safety. So, comfort and good vision are the things to look in to.

They use whatever they are paid for or sponsored by.
For me it really doesn't matter who uses them.
What I'm trying to say is: "What helmet is on Stigs (top gear) head? I need exactly this one." This should not be the criteria when choosing a helmet.
BTW Simpson helmet are really comfortable, the have a nice, soft and durable lining and seem to fit just fine, however it is a little PITA to change the visor (Street Bandit (motorcycle helmet)). Just my 2 cents

I have been road racing for over 15 yrs and been using Bell
Make sure you get the SA and not the M
Don't cheap out on helmets, you only have one head
Also got with the Full face one

Check E-Bay too. I got a near-new SA 2000 for about 1/3 - 1/4 of a new one. The road racing that I do allow them for 10 years, and the tracks that I've been to only require a DOT certified one. Yep, full-face all the way.

The certification is good for 10 years - meaning, if you just bought a SA 2000, most sanctioning bodies will likely start to phase out SA 2000 helmets in late 10/early 11. Tracks typically require you to have the latest (or at least second-latest) certification... so an SA 2005 will still be good for 5 more years, and when the SA 2010 helmets are released in fall of 2010, they'll be good for a full 10 years. It's not 10 years from when you purchase the helmet... just to clarify in case that was misunderstood.
