ME 97 Data Logger/Programmer... Do you know what your car is doing? I do !
If you dont know about this, read this thread ASAP. I just got an ME97 Data logger... A neat little device that is so easy to use and install....
This device comes with Software,OB2 Device & Adapter for ECU Programing. First off let me say I am not a computer guy at all... But this was very very simple.. First I installed the software given to me on a CD Rom.
Then I connect the OB2 Device into my computer USB and set it up for data logging. This thing can log everything. I has so much info you would not believe it. From RPM, EXHAUST TEMP, TORQUE AT THE CRANK, LOAD, SPEED, & THE LIST GOES ON...
THEN I CAN REVIEW THE DATA ON MY PC... YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE YOU CAR AT WORK...
WITH THIS I CAN ALSO GET MY ECU PROGRAMMED WITHOUT LOSING MY CAR ANYMORE... EXAMPLE, I AM GETTING AN X PIPE INSTALLED THIS WEEKEND , MY TUNER LOOKS AT DATA BEFORE INSTALL THEN AFTER. TUNER CAN MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS AND SENDS ME NEW FILE, I PUT IT ON THE CAR MYSELF..
OH YEAH ONE MORE THING.. I ALSO GOT MY STOCK TUNE FILE THAT I CAN PUT BACK ON THE CAR AT ANYTIME...
THIS THING IS BAD ***!! AND YOU CANNOT ASK FOR ANYTHING EASIER... ANYONE CAN DO IT...
THANK YOU LOLA CHAMP CAR FOR YOUR ENGINEERING AND DEVOLPMENT OF THIS PRODUCT... I FEEL LIKE I AM PLAYING WITH ALL OF MY POWER NOW...

NOSONYXC63, thanks for your kind words. I am a nerd and really love tons of data when tuning. I am glad to hear non-nerds have a use for it as well.
.... A thank you as well for the use of your car to get the Data Logger up and running on the new gateway enabled AMGs.
With respect to buying programmers/loggers, they are sold through several tuners in the US. TTM or Tuning Technology Motorsports is a registered forum vendor and can supply the programmer/logger for the 63s (and Kompressor and turbo cars as well).
I made an offer in another thread to provide a couple logger/programmers for testing. Please see https://mbworld.org/forums/4152028-post148.html . I sent one out yesterday to a forum member in CA and am willing to support one more member. Please PM me if you are interested.

There are two different MB versions of the device, one for the ME97 ECU found in the AMG 63s and another for the ME2.7.1 and ME2.8.1s found in the earlier cars (Kompressor and Twin Turbo).
The ME97 version supports data logging and reflashing. The log data viewer is a free download at http://www.efidude.com/downloads/ME97_Logger/install.htm . PM me with your email address and I can send you a sample .dat log data file from a tuned C63 so you can give it a go. I would post it here but .dat files are not permitted. The programmer part requires that the ECU be enabled for programming after which the end user can switch calibrations in under a minute (stock, tune 1, tune 2, tune 3, etc.). It works like having several ECUs married to your car without the cost or the bother of swapping out the ECUs. There is no software required on the PC for the programmer. The device looks like a memory stick and you just drag and drop files on it.
I hope the above removes the confusion.

I joined a thread talking about tuning the C63 and proposed the idea of a cost effective entry level state of tune for the car that consisted of migrating AMG's E63 maps to the C63 firmware. Only the maps that serve to restrict the C's output would be moved of course. As part of that discussion, I offered to support two forum members with the technical support and loaner hardware if they would document the process and post the logged data. The idea was to evaluate an "E on C" tune to see if it was worth the effort. If it is, then perhaps there are some tuners out there that would like to step up to the plate and provide such an entry level tune.
