The E39 M5 has begun to slowly appreciate. I think the C63 P31, Edition 1, and BS will appreciate someday.

I thought those were just headbolt issues. Once fixed then all good.

Also I corrected what I wrote. I didn't mean soon.

... are always a good time.
So, its been 7 years since this thread started. And the W205 is the latest lineup. Are there any updated feelings or change of minds regarding the W204 AMG?

I ask this because I recently fell upon a nice super low mileage car. Its a 2013 C63-P31 with the tan Designo Leather package. Ive had it for roughly 15 months now. It currently has < 31k miles.

I didn't buy this car as an investment. It was suddenly there and the owner needed to sell because she bought an Audi Q7. She was about to be a grandmother which forced a change of vehicles. I paid $35k.

Im thoroughly enjoying the car. I have cleaned it up quite well and won twice at the Legends of the Autobahn Concours during Monterey Car Week here in California. I can't say its a keeper because I go through cars often. But I don't think that I will ever get another deal like this.

507's are readily available and the equivalent of a P30 package, just different options at a different point in the lifecycle

Just sayin....
Your wrong... go out and try to find a matte sedan 507.. its very rare and harder to find than a bs

Rarity does not always translate into collectability, desirability and or increased value. My father bought a 1975 Jaguar XJ6C new in 1975. 95% original paint, restored interior, 30,000 original miles, probably the nicest original 1975 xj6c in the country. VERY rare. Value? Maybe 15K....maybe.

Having said this, I hope your are correct and I am wrong.

507 sedan with 8,000 miles

I just look at cars like E46 M3's even the run of the mill versions have started to appreciate in value. Let alone a CSL etc....

30 years from now, who knows how many C63's will be around unmolested / un-damaged / repaired etc. These are all big factors as to future classic potential (which i do believe it already is a modern classic)

What's new for me is finding out how the 2019 C63 have reduced sound levels to meet new German standards and watching a German documentary about the German automotive industry.
They're under fire for electrifying so late. The government is under fire for not imposing more draconian deadlines.

Now I'm starting to think that there could be something to these cars, those that are Kept original.
As I write this, on this forum, how many are un modified anyway?
Many mods can be reversed of course.

Now If these become investments then it's a whole new world:

So you guys see to what level they go these days with the muscle cars of the 60's?
Matching numbers, history of everything.
In the future: how about history of software reflashes/tunes when the turn of these years comes?
Using the proper nuts and bolts on the exhaust. Orientation of the bolts..
Using only OEM consumables.
And so on

Black series only. Dream all you want, there is no future appreciation. Look at older AMG V12 cars with 200 cars or less built per year. Look at the values. Easily over 30,000 C63 cars built world wide. Conversation over.

G'Day Fella's,

Not sure if anybody has posted this already but this should address the collectorbility, of at least some AMG's.

I just moved my parents out of there home of 50 years... All the things they've been telling me for years are valuable we had to give away; grandfather clocks, corner cabinets, etc.

Anecdotal I know, but I fear, especially with recent legislation, that youth today as they age will want electric and not want those loud smelly gas things.

Times change and less people will want these... that minority that do will want the real exclusives.

60's Muscle cars are even smellier louder and in many cases slower. They shot through the roof. They are associated with the culture, with the music, with times now gone.

So will these be in an antiseptic-electric future...

And the W126 can growl, bark and roar with the best out there.

Electric cars are already faster than any gasoline cars, the culture is what remains.

Count me in on keeping my C63 original (i.e., no "tune").
To each their own; personal choice; thought they did a good job in the day.
My $0.02

I’m keeping mine only because it is the last late model NA V8 RWD ever. It’s mostly pretty analog when it comes to driving feel (no electric steering). The only thing it’s maybe losing out on are suspension and transmission, but the MCT is already noticeably improved from the PFL tranny.

I honestly feel I would be hard pressed to find another muscle car sedan like the W204 that also gives luxurious comfort to boot.

These cars can be tastefully modified and still maintain its value. For the suspension as long as it’s not slammed to the ground and handling is improved I’m sure it’ll keep its value or even raise it (remember the c63 black series has KW suspension). The transmission is something you’ll be stuck with. DSG of the day has got this car beat hands down.
