My Car Is In The Hospital
She's scheduled to get an operation and will be discharged from the dealership next week. I brought my car for that tapping noise in the morning cold start and I read a couple of threads that its just the "LIFTERS" and my SA agreed also...Got an email this morning from my SA that they are going to change the "CAMSHAFTS" too!!! Also my car has an oil leak and this will be the 3rd time they'r going to replace my oil pan..(wow 3rd time since 2008) Good thing I got the extended warranty.....Anyone had this problem?

Damn, that Splitter/Spoiler looks low, Pare. You must be a real careful driver when entering/exiting driveways and approaching parking stops and curbs! Great that you had the extended warranty!

If you have a ticking at start up the goes away after a few seconds that is called lifter bleed down. There is oil in the lifters that takes up the space (lash) between the lifter and the valve. When the oil bleeds out the space is opened up and the lifter and valve click together till the lifter fills up with oil again.
There is new lifters out for the M156 from the M159. I think the newer cars would have the new lifters as there is a new part number now, but I am not 100percent sure.
Another clicking noisy on start that goes away after a few seconds could come from the cam adjusters which also gets filled with oil. I have had two M156s and both have needed new cam adjusters around 50-60K km.
