mixed tire brands in front and rear?

recently visited the dealership and my SA pointed out that the rears needs to be replaced soon.. since getting this CPO in July 2010, i've got 6500 miles on them. SA said they don't carry the Hankooks, but they do have Continentals and Pirelli's (I'm guessing Pzero?), anyways, does it even matter if i have the Hankook's on the front and another brand of tire on the rear?

Trying to see if I can use a wider rear than the 255 that I currently have.. by the way, the car is lowered (H&R coil overs) so not sure if going wider would rub?

you should be fine mixing tires as long as they're the same.. both fronts the same, both rears the same i think.

I'm not lowered so I can't help you there but I've run 275 PSS and Conti rears on stock 18" rims with no issues (at stock height though).

U can mix tire brands no problem. Make sure they are on the correct position if they are uni-directional.

U can definitely go up to 275 w/o rubbing on ur H&R drop.

Don't buy tires from a dealership - better service / warranty from Discount Tire in my experience.

Vulcantire.com also has great prices on tires. They're the only place where I can find Vredesteins. If you're not tracking the car, then mixed tires are fine. Any reputable wheel shop should be able to mount and balance any tires for $50/each or less.

I know it's okay to mix tires as indicated, but I like my tires to match on my cars. I like my socks and shoes to match too, .... just a personal thing.

I like matched tires too, but with certain setups, there are only certain sizes for front or rear. At least until the mfg'ers catch up.

I have mixed tires sine the 80's with no issues. Hell, my audi right now has Continetal DWS's up front and Pirelli's on the rear.

The ONLY thing that could happen is on washed out roads, think truck bumps from heavy braking areas, the car may seem to wonder a little more.

Hell, I have even raced on radials and biased plys before. Long story but still very effective at the autocross. Hoosiers front, BFG's rear.
