C63 Edition 507 wider tires
Hi All,
I am looking at purchasing some wider rear tires for my 19" 507. I am purchasing some Toyo R888. I want to go wider but not sure how much wider I can go on the 507 stock rims. Does anyone know?

The only choice I see on Tire Rack that will fit in a R888 is the 265/30/ZR19.
Although a bit wide for the rim you can fit a 275/30/19 if available in some other brand.

Thanks for the find, Mort. I am going to start with a 265 just to be safe. I wouldn't want that tire popping off the rim on road bump loads.

Depends on how wide the tire is for the size rating. Some manufacturers tires are wider and some narrower in the same size rating, say the 285 rating for example. I know some have been able to fit one of the Nitto tires in a 285. Sorry can't remember exactly which tire series but one that was selected for drag racing.

275/30/19 Michelin Super sports in rear or for max performance , also thinking about Potenza RE-11-A's. Can't go wrong with either imho.
But the question is what size do you install for the fronts to compensate for the increased grip on the rears?
Thoughts anyone?
I will continue to research front sizes as there may be info for the 507's tire combo larger "no rub" in Michelin Super sports/ Potenza RE-11A's.
link to a matching set . I am not familiar with these yokos but the fitment looks dead on.

Ah sweet! Did you go wider in the front too? Or no need to compensate? Also would a local tire shop have the 10mm spacers, or should I purchase them on my own? Sorry for all the questions but I need to get this right.
Nice looking car!!!

Forgot your other question, spacers I got from vivid racing, go contact the new guy, should be about $100 shipped a pair.
And I used longer bolts from rad. If you go 10 mm spacer in the back you will prolly have to shave a few mm off to clear the parking brake sensors (I had to anyway in my 507 coupe).

Agree, looks pretty much optimized.
Before I converted my 507 to the BS body, I ran 1/2 inch spacers all around with the stock Contis, with 40 mm shank bolts. No rubbing or binding, so on 10mm spacers in the rear, you may have to shave off max. 2 mm.

Sorry for the dumb question, shave 2mm off what? I am going to go with the 275s in the rear with spacers.

Original lug bolts have 28mm shank length. The next length up, that is common, is 40mm, i.e. 12 mm longer. So, if you use a 1/2 inch spacer, 40 mm will have the same depth of engagement of the bolt than the 28 mm stock without the spacer.
If you use 40mm bolts with a 10 mm spacer, it will engage 2 mm deeper that original. If the original was completely at the limit, you might have to shave up to 2 mm off of the longer lug bolts. It may be fine as is, but worst case, you may have to grind 2 mm off. No big deal.
