What is the process of selling a Canada car to the US? Additional taxes or duty?

Thanks. Selling as I want to move to a full on sports car next year. Looking at the Stringray, a C6 Z06 or the new Viper. I have another car to drive in the winter and a bike as well.

For importing into the U.S., I believe the car will have a small amount of duty (2.5% according to the U.S. customs site below, but there is a personal exemption of $800, check the site) and you are responsible for local taxes when you register / plate. Essentially, you check if the car is EPA, DOT etc. compliant, which it should be and I will confirm that; you tell customs beforehand you are bringing the car in, and contact your DMV / RMV for plates, etc.; then you show up at the border (make sure car is clean and not full of your stuff) with the bill of lading (if applicable) and bill of sale plus my registration (which I sign over to you) and then you clear the car and are off on your way.

I was deciding on the C63 or Stringray...went with the C63 as it would fit day to day activites. But damn cannot ignore the Stingray...maybe I'll pick one up anyway. I would be happy with the Z51 (?) package.
I saw a pack of vettes on the day coming back from the MB dealership when I bought AMG. The stingray was holding the rear...damn looked good!

Thanks man! I like the widebody Z06 look though, which is what I am waiting for. I will likely pick up the C6 Z06 for 2 years while I wait for the C7 Z07 (rumoured) to be launched and work out the kinks. Enough of that though! Someone buy my car! It's clean, pristine and comes with goodies! Forgot to add, it also comes with smoked side markers with silver bulbs (unused) and 2 different sets of floor mats.
