So I got my resonator deleted and replaced with straight pipe near the back. That's what I thought we had talked about here and it turns it outo it was actually the secondary cat delete and I ended up getting the wrong thing removed. Lol
To be honest though I do like the sound of it still though so not sure what I should do now and if I screwed up or what...I guess I can get it put back and remove the secondary cat as talked about....advice?
I hope I didn't lose power going this route...if that's the case then I am gonna have the resonator put back in....fml
lol, this is comical. anyway, you didn't lose power, but you probably did change the pitch/tone of the exhaust. if you like it, then keep it, otherwise just straight pipe your secondary cats too with or without rewelding back in the resonator.
I know...pretty funny. The shop was closing at 6 and I was 30 minute drive away at 5 and didn't get the chance to look at the thread before hand! Like seriously...but if I didn't lose power then I don't care and I actually like how angry it sounds now. I will hear it side by side another one that has the secondary cat delete and see what I like better. Perhaps even straight pipe the whole thing...but don't want it TOO loud either.
Sounds pretty good still though I gotta say. Will be comparing it with another c63 with cat delete and see if they are vastly different. If not, will just leave it as is. There's no power loss either way so that's the big thing.
i was quote over $300 for sec cat delete with straight pipe. the mech will remove the entire exhaust, cut and weld ,then install back, eurocharged's x pipe is $499, so...
Out of curiosity, for those who have just the second cat delete, do you experience any type of odd smell? I read on another thread that the exhaust will release a weird smell from removal of the second cats. Also, will this pass smog and emissions tests? I know that it is illegal in many states. I live in Oregon, can anyone chime in on this please? Thank guys!
i have a secondary cat delete and have not noticed any odd smells. i also just got my state inspection done via obd-ii and passed without issue, however, i reside in texas and am not familiar with oregon transportation laws.
Hey, how you liking your new mod and how much did it end up costing you total? You ended up getting a second cat delete, correct?
It'll be $169 to remove the cat and replace with straight pipe at Park Muffler in Sherwood Park. I went straight pipe all the way and feel it might be a little too loud and might get the resonator put back in.
Been thinking about making my car more louder, but still keeping that "c63" sound... there are plenty of options between a muffler delete, other mufflers like meisterschaft, agency power, akrapovic, eisenmann to name a few.
My current exhaust setup MBH headers no cats, mbh x-pipe, stock mufflers. Seriously considering a muffler delete, and if it doesn't turn out good going with an aftermarket muffler. Does any one have a true header back straight pipe set up without mufflers?
[QUOTE=Ezec63;6079541]That sounds good ! Ive gone thru almost every combo of exhaust on my car before settling to where I am now with LT Headers with Valvetronic exhaust/ x pipe. But with warranty headers aren't an option for you
Hi, I am a newbie from Hong Kong.
I nearly has zero idea about the modify exhaust.
Unfortunately I went to the exhaust shop before i reading through this topic. My c63 took off the resonator then replaced by an x pipe. Coz the mechanics told me the sec cat removal is not a wise idea.
Then after the work done n i found there is nearly no difference on the loudness. But it seems a bit higher pitch then before which I dont feel very happy. So tomorrow i m gonna take off the secondary cat by putting on straight pipes. So the question is:
Should I leave the x pipe on or what should i do? I want louder and i love AMG bark sound and deeper sound... Many thanks!!

I'm down in Austin and considering doing the same, so I'm glad to hear that it still smoke okay - did you have any difficulty convincing the muffler shop to do the secondary cat delete?
Rear muffler deleted and dual straight-pipe fitted before I went to a quad-system. This is made out of 3"-Stainless Steel, but is now in excess of my requirements and for sale in South Africa at R500.00 + transport cost. Ben, Nelspruit, 0827358621
All it takes is one cut and one weld to fit your C320 or C32.
Subsequently, the secondary Cats developed a problem with one core coming loose inside and turning 90º effectively blocking the flow. It ran crappy, misfired and heavier than usual fuel consumption. Had both cut-out, but it caused too much drone. Then added two 12" resonators instead of the straight pipes welded in to replace the cats. Now still sounds excellent, but without the drone. Funny thing is Mercedes SA gave me a middle-finger and refused any form of help although there are hundreds of MB-owners with the same problem which to my mind is a factory fault. Screw them anyway!
I replaced the resonator (E63 with M156) and it made a huge difference. It was almost too loud at part throttle for my middle-aged sensibilities, but the worst part was that it sounded less like an AMG and more like a truck. I went back and added a smaller H-pipe (the resonator has one built in), and really like the result. Its basically stock sounding at idle and gentle throttle, but around 50% louder when I get into it while retaining that nice rasp.
What diameter did you go to? I have 1.5" and does sound like a bit like a boat...

Sounds fantastic!
To clarify, you already had the resonators taken out, and most recently did the 2ndary cat removal?
Or was $169 for removal of both the resonator and the 2ndary cats?
