Schedule "A" Service - Worth $250?

So, I have 7k miles on my car which is just over a year old. Should I pay my MB dealer $250 for this service?

It seems like a very overpriced oil change...

That it is... And a quick glance over inspection. If even that. Most dealer techs try to make the most $/time spent, so they will power through your oil change in 20 minutes and call it done.

Go to a european independent shop and ask them to do it, they will be more thorough and charge less.

Your car is brand new what do they need to look over? All dealership services are just a way for them to make money. Until you actually need to fluids change they are worthless.

Well, based on MB guidance, you need an oil change after a year or 12k miles whichever comes first. This is the Schedule "A" Service.
I do not want to pay $250, considering it's basically a bunch of crap and an oil change.

The materials are worth 80 bucks or so
Should take an hour or less if they actually do the checklist

Worth or 'value' is up to you
If doing a couple of services a year, perhaps not
If 1 a year, perhaps yes

What is your time worth?
There is a resale value having dealer records
If you do it your self make a folder and keep dated reciepts and checklists

Thanks. I agree, time is money.
I am probably going to take it to a (non crappy) shop that would most likely do it for half the price that MB is trying to fleece me for.
I am okay paying $125 for oil change parts and labor + topping off the fluids.

Add up all the costs of these services A etc and you will be way ahead of resale value. As long as your car is service at dealership for oils changes and major services it will show up on Carfax.
