Carbon Ceramic Brake for C63
Racingbrake is looking to develop Carbon Ceramic brake kit for C63 along with GTS.
https://mbworld.org/forums/amg-gt-gt...ml#post6433629
C63 has 360x36 front and 330x26 rear comparing to 390x36/360x26 in black series, so even MB understands C63 needs more braking power.
While we offer iron rotor BBK upgrade for C63 for a direct bolt on installation which is only available from RB because we can make the rear hat to fit C63 smaller drum brake (than BS) so you don't have to replace the axle to Black Series.
We have just released a 380mm CCM rotor kit for all Lexus (IS & GS except for RC F to follow) which fits 19" wheels, a much preferred size by track racers.
http://forums.racingbrake.com/showthread.php?t=1453
CCM equipped will make your C63 to be comparable with M4 (CCM is optional) and RC F (offered by RB).
Is this something you guys like to have?

People are going to say "hell yes!" and then flake out on you guys when it comes down to paying for CCB's.
Just my guess

this.
better off making nice looking regular brakes for good price (2 piece front rotors). not many people will spend 9k on brakes and its just the truth.

They can be made for both, which we have offer both on iron two piece replacement.
As stated, we think 380mm (front and rear) rotor kits can well fit under 19" wheels which is more favorable for track goers.
This set up will have the same front as Porsche 997 GT3 comes with pccb (380x34), but will be larger than GT3 rear (350x34)
The other alternative is to make front 394x36 and keep the rear at 380x34 but it would require 20" wheels.

Look at the number of people on here that complain about the oem cost (which is a rippoff). No way they will pay twice that for better brakes.
Would I like them on mine - hell yes. Will I pay the sort of money required - hell no.
Better off cementing your position as the without question go to choice for solid or two piece iron rotor sets.

Anyway if these fit the stock C63 caliper I could see some people buying them if only for the bragging rights. If you need new calipers too $10K+ for brakes on a C63 is steep, but then again if someone is willing to drop that on an IS350 anything's possible.

Now, as others mentioned, if you could come up with a solid, well priced, brake solution for us budget baller's you'd be far better off.

Exactly my point. People here b itch about the smallest of costs, vendors not posting prices, etc etc etc. Yea, it's an AMG, but it's really just a c-class with a big motor. Some ballers here for sure, but mostly ballin' on budgets and acting like the thing that swings between the legs is bigger than it really is.

Let's not go there and start this vendor argument again, things have been calm lately.
I think offering a BS kit might be your only bet.

^I'm not starting a vendor war again. Trust me, I'm beyond over it. I would still bet, however, that even once people play the PM game to find out how much things cost they don't buy because it is too expensive.
#11
I hope they don't don't buy from a vendor who prices via Pm's for whatever reason. Because they way of doing business is just bulls*t. In fact I think it would be great to get some neighborhood kids to signup and start asking these shady vendors for pricing!
RacingBrake, not trying to steal your thread. I just don't see reg C63 owners paying the price for Ceramics. I just don't track mine anywhere near enough to even consider.

Thanks for all the comments.
Our first post:
CCM equipped will make your C63 to be comparable with M4 (CCM is optional) and RC F (offered by RB).
M4 has CCM as factory option, and we also worked with our Lexus dealer - Fig Engineering in making CCM brake option available for RCF.
So here we simply make the same CCM upgrade option available for C63 owners, unlike other models such as BS, E63, or SLS CCM option is available.
Look this C63 owner's upgrading to CCM, which also involves the axle/hub replacement in order to install the rear CCM kit.
Stock OEM MB Carbon Ceramic Brake Conversion
Its official. You can do the rear conversion

For those who like to have this CCM conversion, RB kits are made for "Bolt-On" installation - Everything stays as stock, no other components/accessories to buy or replace.

For the rear you will need:
Left and right calipers, CC rotors, and pads(given )
In addition:
Left and right wheel carriers.
Two rear "E" series axles.
Two rear flanges (part the wheel bolts to)
Rear emergency brake assembly and shoes(both sides are in the package)

It's a wise move to poll your customers for feedback before you spend money on new product development. I don't know what you would need to charge for something like this but for a new M4, the CCB option is a bit over $8k. Conversion is probably higher. For the few crazies here who would change out the entire rear end just to get CCB's, this price range is probably a steal. For the other 99.999% of us, it's unjustifiably expensive.
This clearly won't be a high-volume product. So the question becomes - how deep is the crazy pool?

While taking a poll and gaging interest is the way to go, I tend to agree with most users on here. I agree on the part that very few might actually take advantage of this kit. As stated before, owners are "having an issue" spending 4k-5k via their local dealerships to replace their brakes. A carbon ceramic set will most likely cost almost twice that amount.
AP racing has a CC kit for the GTR and roughly goes for 13k-15k depending on the vendor. Not sure how competitive that is compared to the OEM setup but it is still 13k and that's almost 10% of the car's total value. I just don't see that much demand from folks on here.

RB's complete CCM brake kit offer for MB GT-S:
https://mbworld.org/forums/amg-gt-gt...ml#post6437774
CCM brakes is a new technology and is very different from the conventional iron rotor, some track racers considered it's actually cost less to run and maintain.
We have been receiving inquiries from S' and ML's owners even just to do the front while keeping iron brake in the rear, it would still be a major improvement while keeping the cost down.
C63 is the most popular motorsports model out of MB, so we are thinking if we start off a front axle kit @~$6.5K at our cost (including 6-pot caliper, CCM rotor and pad), which is very similar to the cost of a dealer's brake job and only 2/3 of AP's rotors only kit.
This will let you experience the CCM brakes yourself. And we are confident that you will like the kit and agree it worth the money you spent and will endorse this set up to others.
To be honest we think C63 is the only crowd we can expect in volume, and volume helps us to bring the cost down for a potential profit.
How this sounds?

Here are rotor weight info:
OE 360x36mm: 36.5 lbs
RB/CCM Rotor 380x34mm: 11 lbs
Save 25.5 lbs per rotor, only 30% of OE weight.
Wt saving per axle = 51 lbs, with oversized rotor from 14" (360mm) to 15" (380mm)
What you see is what you will get as shown on scale, no dramatization.

I note that you propose a kit of CCM rotor, 6 pot caliper and pads. I assume that a CCM rotor and pad kit for use with existing calipers has issues. Can you provide a brief explanation why a complete changeover is required.

I have the 2 piece RB front and rear rotors now and would love to see a CC kit in the future. I looked into the oem set but I'm not paying 18k for brakes and then also have new wheels made for the different back spacing.

I am very much interested in an upgrade kit with pads and carbon ceramic rotors only (plus adapters as needed for rotor diameter), i.e. using stock calipers. I am thinking about driving those in summer (incl. track) on 19 inch rims and probably go back to 18 inch rims and the stock rotors/pads for winter driving.
How much would such a ceramic rotor/pad/adapter upgrade cost? Feel free to PM me.

For those already own RB two piece rotors, a future upgrade would be CCM rotors for the front, while keep the RB 2 pc rotor in the rear.
And for those still have stock rotors, we can offer a package and bundle with CCM front/Iron 2pc rear.
This set up will be similar to the new C63S w/front CCM option and keep your brake upgrade cost more manageable.
