Out of curiosity...why do you need one? Hard shifting?

A new valve body is probably cheaper than you think at $700-800 from the dealer, costs more to do the install than the valve body itself. I had to replace mine because my weistec valve body upgrade never worked properly. They never figured out what was wrong even after sending it back twice.

Yes, rough shifting when in sport mode while downshifting from second to first. I didn't know they were that inexpensive new, what did you pay for parts and labor?

I was reeeeally close to pulling the trigger on a Weistec valvebody for my car. But the whole shipping to USA, waiting in customs both ways etc thing was quite off putting and time consuming.

I paid....I think it was around £1100GBP for 8 new solenoids from MB and then installation, tranny oil, filter etc....

I'd imagine it's about the same in USD perhaps? Maybe $1400USD all in if you replace all 8. Less if you only replace the failing ones.

Car shifts perfectly now into 2nd and 1st in sport mods and comfort. Only has the occasional random harder downshift, but nowhere near as bas as it was before and still not terribly bad. Manual mode is still horrid esp on the shift down into first. Apparently it's a characteristic of the tranny mode. Who knows. I hardly use it anyway tbh.

So you changed the valve body and solenoids because of a hard shift from 2nd into first and its now fine, except it still has a hard shift from 2 into first only it's.. sometimes, but that's normal?

Me ^ ?

Yeah 2nd to 1st was pretty bad and 3rd to 2nd wasn't great either. It's as smooth as MB intended now. Going down into first at very low speeds (less than 10mph) in manual still is a bit to harsh for my liking but apparently 'they're all like that'.

On my car, I think the solenoids were replaced only.

Hello,

You cannot install a used valve body, these require online SCN programming at the dealer to be done properly. If you get a used one you will likely not even be able to use it and even if you find someone to hack up the programming you will probably still run into issues and end up at the dealer. These are also security released parts and cannot be purchased over the counter your dealer will likely charge you around 6 hours @ 175 per hour plus the part and a trans service.
