cornering lights....a big mistake trying to replace them
Holy **** these little h7 bulbs will not re-align correctly to snap in place. Anyone have any advice on how to get these things in?
Im so close to pulling the bumper in order to get the whole headlight housing out.

I figured out a way to do it and made a post like 5 years ago and forgot the trick to get them to align to pop back in.
Not sure if they are the same bulbs but I know what you are going through lol

Its terrible. I gave up and closed up the headlight with no bulbs in the cornering lights for now. Only a few posts on the forum about these bulbs but they all have the same problem. The only useful info I found is this..
"You need to align the tabs and push the bulb harder into the reflector. Then turn in CCW direction if your facing the lens."

It helps to pay close attention as you remove the bulb.
From page 119 of the 2013 manual:
Switch off the lights.
X Open the hood.
X Turn housing cover : counter-clockwise
and pull it out.
X Turn bulb holder ; counter-clockwise and
pull it out.
X Take the bulb out of bulb holder ;.
X Insert the new bulb into bulb holder ;.
X Insert bulb holder ; into the lamp and turn
it clockwise.
X Align housing cover : and turn it
clockwise until it engages.

sounds easy until you try it
I have not changed them on thsi car but I can assure you access and ease is similar to my W212 which I did not find all that difficult but certainly not easy.

Agree. I hate replacing those bulbs. I never remember the exact trick to doing it, so every single time I fight and pry at the damn things until they come out. My car originally came with halogens, and on my drive back east I vividly remember trying to change all the bulbs out in a Walmart parking lot somewhere in Utah in the middle of the night. Took me forever.
I feel your pain. Hang in there, it'll be ok.

Circumstances often dictate when to do this but as a rule of thumb I would never tackle it in the dark, when it is raining and not if I am hung over or had a bad nights sleep!

gave it another shot and got them both in correctly...But now the "check cornering light" message is still there for both the and left and right and the bulbs wont light up.
Bulbs are definitely inserted in the connector correctly (they will only go in one way). Bulbs are brand new also. Thought maybe the light would actually have be turned on to clear the message so I went for drive (using blinkers and over the required speed limit) but they wont light up. Any ideas?

Disregard previous post. Cornering lights only illuminate at night regardless of what position you have the headlight switch during the day. Everything working now.
Word to the wise. Dont f*ck with these stupid lights unless you have a lot of patience

Attempted to replace these with LEDS, got the passenger side in after an hour of bloody hands. Attempted driver side and gave up, bulb is just sitting there maybe I’ll takle it next weekend to get it in properly when I have more patience.
Worst design EVER.

Some of the same people in this thread were also jumping on my for suggesting what you're considering now OP
To be fair, they did not know I have little patience and back pain.
Dropping the bumper is not as scary as it sounds and in some respects, makes the job MUCH easier. On the flip side, dropping the bumper to replace a bulb might seem silly to those who have practiced hands for this operation (I can confirm I have large hands made mostly of ham)
Time vs. struggle, what's each worth to you?

I have a 2015 GLK350 with the Bi-Xenon lighting package, and was able to replace the cornering bulbs (H7) for both sides following the owners manual.
More room for the passenger side, tighter for the driver's but there is enough room, without shifting the windshield washing fluid tube aside.
The key for me was to get a line of sight of the bulb holder from under the hood, to ease removal and reinstallation, as otherwise trying to guess/feel my way around is going to be difficult.
Also during reinstallation I check the position from the front, looking through the headlight lens, to ensure the bulb is centered.
Took me 30 minutes total for both sides and as it was my first attempt, went slowly. With experience it's probably a 5-10 minutes job.
I am not sure if the above applies to all GLK model-years, but hope it helps.
