I was looking through all the 507 hood threads I could find and I know OEM is always the best route. OEM cost just doesn't make financial sense to me. So skipping that. I know there is several aftermarket version for around $800-$1,000. Who knows I may pull the trigger and see what comes of it. But I believe I saw a couple threads that weren't in great detail on how people have made our current OEM hoods non vented custom made into a 507 hood vented? Can someone clarify how to achieve this or will a good shop just know how to do this showing pictures no problem or is there some knowledge needed to be gained on my part to bring to the shop to accomplish this goal? Any guidance from you experienced members would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not as easy as it looks
I brought a 507 and took that and my stock one the a fabricator and it wasn't as easy as first thought due to the design and the way the hood vents are pressed
to get oem quality would've been expensive
however if it was to make a few then it may work out but one offs are never cheap

Yeah this is what I was also thinking. But I know I stumbled across a thread where I believe a member gave someone the specs for the vent positioning on the hood and they bought 507 vents and made templates from those and sketched on the hood and cut perfect sizes vents holes on there current OEM hood and some how made it work. I belive they said it cost them a $1,000 for paint and labor and another $500-1000 for vents and extra accessories to make it fully functional. So my idea was if I could drop $2,000 even and utilize my existing hood then well this would be the route I'd rather go. But I couldn't find any details of how this was fully achieved. And I don't want to start something like this half A$$ and find out I missedba step etc and hood is ruined.Originally Posted by Brunty88

1. Find 507/BS hood and make a template or take measurements (or find the thread with the measurements, try these also: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-question.html or https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ml#post7054481 or https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ents-help.html or https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...correctly.html)
2. Apply painters tape to hood. Draw holes on hood from template/measurements.
3. Use Dremel and cutting wheel to cut holes
4. Glue vents in holes
5. Beer
Found the thread with the dimensions: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...imensions.html

You're the man BLKROCT! I'm going to start looking for a qualified shop that would help take on this project. Do you see any issue with Gluing in the Vents? I'm assuming that's the only way to do so since there is no OEM clips or anything to pop it into place. I'm assuming I would have to also retrofit that water tray thing that the 507 has to push water to the front of the bay as well.Originally Posted by BLKROKT

Send me a PM of what you would be looking for on cost etc and let's go from there. We can check on shipping etc if we can make a deal. 👍Originally Posted by JPetros2008
Ive got an oem 507 hood. It was involved in a minor accident so I removed all the paint and to get it repainted, but now its just been sitting there for almost half a month and Ill probsbly never get around to putting it on. Im willing to sell it, but shipping is probably a hassle.

Appreciate it. Yeah no rush but this is something I'm looking to get done at some point. And it will be done. Just all about right timing and right cost and what route to go etc..Originally Posted by Brunty88
