I've gone mid/low 1.7's on the ET street R's i had on it before. Once i get the front diff mount in and get back to the track we'll see. I think i can knock off a 1.6x but that's only when im ready for a built trans........ which won't be till sometime next year. Once I'm ready to pull it ill take it to the track and give her hell.

Started prepping my sl550/55 power steering reservoir to put on my car. I cut off two of the front mounting nipples and sanded them to make it look cleaner. I might do the same for the big rear mount and run a hose clamp with a custom bracket for mounting. Not sure yet, once the car is back from the tuner ill get mocking everything up.

I plan on putting on the left side in the highlighted area

pics of the prepped reservoir

I guess the power steering reservoir needs to be relocated with the blower ? Never thought about that before but it would be right under the blower snout.

weistec includes their custom aluminum reservoir but its mounted in the front of the motor on the right side. But it causing squeaking and issue because of how low it is. The 550 resevior is an idea some one gave me on the c63 facebook page, and i think this will work out better honestly.

Looking into hood vents and I found these track ones for a few different cars, I really only want the center vent but may end up doing all three. The heights on them are different depending on which car I'd get it for but anywhere from 9-14 inches high and 18-25 inches wide. I need to measure the hood for clearance and body lines. But I photoshopped one to get an idea.

Let me know what you guys think!
I think the E92 center vent would really go well on the hood and is 9.5 inches tall.

Well, I got my car finally tuned and laying down some good numbers. I had AMR performance tune the car but im not real happy with the driveability and the price of the tune it should've been perfect, and will end up having Barry retune it next year after a few more minor mods.

I will be doing headstuds and black serious lifters over Thanksgiving. Im still on stock head bolts lol. And its getting meth pre blower around the same time. Also after new year before the retune I plan on going with 82mm throttle bodies as well. Sadly no e85 yet as I want to do the whole fuel system properly.

It made 710whp and 788tq on AMR dyno. I bright it home and redynoed it on a local dyno to verify and back the numbers up. Tq looked high from AMR. But it laid down 708whp and 731wtq with 10% dyno load.

Nice job on the intake. I have an identical setup although I have thought about making some changes to it recently. I have no data but I'm not convinced they would flow any better than a good OTR intake with upgraded airboxes. Helluva lot cheaper though.

Also you are right to think about venting the bay. The tubes get very very hot and cannot be good for intake temps. I may consider making my own tubes out of carbon fibre as they don't conduct heat nearly as well, or trying a heat-reflective gold wrap. Again, I have no data right now so it might just be a huge **** but at least it will look cool.

That E92 vent actually looks good. Here is a recent build down in Sydney where they grafted in a ton of vents. No doubt it works well but it looks a bit over the top imo. Anyway you are making no joke power. Curious to see how you go with meth.

Those are great numbers, congrats! Hoping I can crack the 700 barrier too when I throw on my 60mm this spring.

This was with pump 93?

Damn, nice solid power.

What is it about the driveability you don't like with current tune??

Not fully relevant but if you are curious on more info on the E9X hood vents. Check out the below thread on M3Post for a track build M3 with vents similar in design to what you posted above. Tons of information on different aspects of the car and the first page has links to different mods and discussions in the thead.

also remember that the engine belly pan also serves to evacuate hot air. maybe look at if its beneficial to add some additional NACA ducts to the factory ones on the belly pan as well.

That’s a good point. It can be done but the plastic underbelly pans are very brittle. When I get my car back I’ll post pics of mine.

most folks that road race, re-create the factory belly pan in aluminum with larger NACA ducts. not sure if you want to spend the time in effort to do so as the factory pan could explode if you ever were to go off into the dirt during a turn.

Well, I wanted to give an update on my car for those that don't know. The tune i received from AMR performance is ****. The car makes power but is undriveable. After about 2 or 3 starts I get a cel and about 9 codes, secondary air pump is 2 and allowable since they need coded out but I am getting misfires among others. Im doing my headstuds and lifters this week and its gonna sit unless AMR can work something out because I'm not taking over 3 hours away fir something that's perfect and ready to go.

I will be having Barry (hachiroku) retune it when that time comes. May it be sooner or after winter.

I will have updates and pics on the headstuds and lifters install.

Bummer to hear about the poor drivability. Are any of the issues fuel related? A lot of guys will only run that pulley with race gas, or E85 - as well as the entire fuel system being on the ragged edge of maxed out at ~700ish whp.

I dont believe so, I have an ice tank and had 5 huge blocks in it. The problem is as the ecu is learning its when it senses something not right. I can clear the codes and itll be fine fir 50-150 miles.

I was getting miss fires and shut it off restarted and fine, that tells me tune related.

Agree, likely tune related then. That's pretty common with the some of the popular box tune guys - "just shut it off, or disconnect your battery"

Barry will get you sorted out, good luck!

Well, I got some goodies going in this weekend that are a must!! Also waiting on my meth kit to show up as I'm not going with nitrous just yet. Also going to figure out how I'm going to relocate my power steering reservoir using the sl500 one I have.

Also, I couldn't see paying weistec or vrp prices on black series lifters. Now I got employee cost from my buddy who's a benz tech and it came too 1150 with tax. My weistec headstuds and i also bought a bottle of redline assembly lube and arp ultra torque. I will post updates and hopefully get everything buttoned up this weekend.

also peep my bag of parts to do oil cooler seals on my ml350 bluetec over my Christmas vacation...... nit looking forward to that one.

I will also try to get my front diff mount i modified installed. And I also bought a vacuum manifold for the meth controller and to hook a boost guage etc and have more ports than the one 1/8th inch one the supply.

Well, I got my headstuds and black series lifters installed. Had my little helper in the garage torqueing studs also. I didnt agree with weistecs installation instructions on the headstuds, but I stuck my borescope down the first hole to check it out. Turns out the hole goes through the deck and into a water jacket first then the threaded hole. So I ended up using their instructions. I used redline assembly lube on all the cam lobe and journal surfaces as well.

Still have to relocate the power steering reservoir and figure that out. My intake is in the way to make this easy job.

Here's the borescope video I took

This wasn't news to you was it? It's the major cause of failed head bolts.
