That's why you see pitting because of the flow by. Did you do this with the coolant already drained? Sucking the coolant out of the threaded hole was such a pain.

All in all it was easy job besides being really time consuming. The stud for the left head rear ward bottom most took a bit of persuasion as it hit the shielding. Also, the getting the cams to line back always takes the most time and was a pain in the ***. I even have the mb tech tools to do it, I was one tooth off a couple times so I had to reloosen them and fix it. It was decent job and one more thing towards bullet proofing the engine.

How are the knees? Had to continuously remember to keep them bent for the 2nd job on a friends car.

Idk if I posted this before but my oil came in for my oil change. A bit bummed because the oil in the car maybe has 500 miles on it. But after a little antifreeze spillage and redline assembly lube its best to change it etc.

Made a little head way on relocating my power steering reservoir this morning. Its kind of a pain in the *** because of the direction the 3/4 nipple comes off the power steering pump. So I searched for a long time to find a 3/4 oil resistant/power steering hose with a 90 degree bend. I finally found one that works ok, its not perfect by my standards but itll do. I also made a bracket at work to mount the reservoir to the rad support.

Also, forgot to show a little present that showed up yesterday. My used 82mm throttle bodies i got. They're all over ebay and salvage yards for cheap. If you have a blower car I'd definitely do these right away!
Stay tuned over my Christmas vacation getting my meth installed, throttle bodies and my diff mount installed.

The mounting is supposedly off a little bit, so you just have to drill out the mounting holes a little bit.. i don't have on of my stock ones off yet to compare.

So wanted to post the big scare I had the other day. After getting the car back together, I fired it up topped off antifreeze etc and also to make sure the tapping on the new lifters went away.
Well, I started the car and pulled out of my driveway and drove down my street. A car was a little close behind. After driving for about a mile or so a notice the car back off and a big plume of white smoke. Looked like an old Taurus with cracked heads lol.
I was driving real easy just to get some break in miles on it. Once I got home I checked over a few things, drained my catch can which about 4 ounces or so of water came out.
Long story short way more antifreeze got into the oil that I saw or noticed but not enough to milkshake it. And I was doing the start up and short test drive on that oil before I change it. I had like 16 quarts of mobil 1 10w30 that I changed it with just to do a good flush with before I put my schaeffer's in.
Good news is the oil was the problem with antifreeze in it and once changed it cleared it right up.
Also have some pics of the frame and meth tank mount.

I know that pit-of-your-stomach first-drive problem feeling all too well well. Glad this one wasn’t a disaster.

But yea after more investigation I figured it out. Also found out that in moderate Temps my tune is absolutely garbage as in undriveable with misses and very very bad driveability. It wasn't this bad in 30 degree weather but in 50s it sucks.

On a separate note, that Shaeffer's 5W50 looks interesting. What was your reasoning to use it over the usual options?

I never usually follow the crowd, and schaeffer's Supreme 9000 5w40 or 5w50 has lots of zinc and calcium which is good for flat tappets. The others are good but i look for better for my style driving etc.. i used to run motul 8100 but again look for the best option for me since im absolutely unforgiving on my car.

I bought them right from weld. Also they don't make our bolt pattern so I sent them to a company in California called Jason's wheel repair where the redrilled them to 5x112 and put in steel inserts. I also had them powder coated gloss clear so I dont have to polish them .
redrilling was cheap, iirc it was like 35 a wheel but shipping out there etc was rough. I think I had about 1600 total in both wheels for everything.
