390 mm black series rotor conversion

And just found a Zimmerman one piece 390mm disc.

There is also a 380mm option and is priced quiet nicely at $320 to $350 per disc. The only difference I see is that the swept area is 70mm wide on the 380mm disc which is 1.5mm smaller compared to the 360 and 2mm smaller than the 390 disc. The brake surface on the pad is 64mm wide so the 70mm swept area should be enough. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Wondering if the spare tire would still fit. which kept me from upgrading to the 390mm option.

This is fantastic info.
Any prints on the Zimmerman?
Edit, I’m stupid.
The Zimmerman is a direct fit.
If the 390 absolutely won’t fit under an 18” wheel, the 380 will.
I could get a few sets delivered to a friend in Germany and he would be able to forward them to me. Not sure how much higher the shipping cost would be.
All I know at the moment is stat I'm still waiting on a package from GER which was sent beginning of November. (Damn rona)

I had the first set designed and fabricated by exceptional AMG Master Tech Matthew Stockwell of Leistung Autohaus and his fabricator - i believe he was an aerospace or materials engineer, and paid significantly more than this EBay price.
I had these custom Brackets fabricated because my RacingBrake bracket would make the front caliper rub on OEM 19" 507 wheels (but were perfect and without rubs on OEM 19" Turbine style wheels). I attribute this to a taper in the 507 wheel. The new, custom Brackets also optimized the brake pad/rotor contact area, which was now perfectly centered/symmetric, whereas with the RB Bracket, it was off by a 1-2 millimeters.
Have been running these same Brackets offered above on EBay for over 1yr without issue, with the OEM Non-BS Front Calipers, RB Rotors, and 507 Wheels.
You will need custom, longer bolts with which to secure Front calipers onto new Bracket. The OEM Brembo bolts will not work.
Disclosure: this is not my EBay listing. It is offered by a gentleman who initially invested in a run of these for our community.

If that was the case why didn't you just machine the 1-2mm off of the RB brackets?

Machining off material from existing RacingBrake bracket could further alter where the pad contacts rotor, etc.
The issue of 1-2mm was one of brake pad placement/contact patch of the rotor - with RacingBrake Bracket, this contact area was suboptimal/asymmetric by ~1-2mm, at least on my OEM Caliper and Wheel setup.

I have a very similar setup to your Wilwood / Audi application on my C5Z track rat using Wilwood calipers made to fit over OEM sized rotors using a custom caliper bracket. The application was different in that I was trying to get the widest choice for 20mm thick race pads in standard race caliper shapes (either 7420 or 8350), which the Willwoods accept. The 7420 pad leaves the same unswept ring on the rotor toward the hub (it's a 43mm depth) whereas the 8350 is 50mm deep and sweeps the entire rotor ring area, but that doesn't affect the braking performance. What I did notice was that using one-piece steel rotors would simply overheat to the point where they were unable to cool off and furthermore melted(!) aluminum lug nuts to the wheel studs, whereas neither I nor my wife (who is actually harder on the brakes than I am ) have been able to ever get any kind of brake fade with two-piece rotors on a track that is VERY demanding on the brakes (repeated and sustained brake applications from 240 km/h to 100 km/h speeds). Any idea if those 380mm rotors are one piece or two piece?

part #: "230 421 09 12", code: (030),,
but i'm doubting, if they will clears (18")..?!?!?!
-;-ZAYED-;-

There are several aftermarket wheels which will clear 380mm 6 piston Brembo Setup.
Google is your friend.
Easiest way to check the fitment with a 18” factory wheel is to see if there is a 10mm gap between the caliper and the wheel barrel.
Most "spec" race cars have 18" wheels and large brakes. The AMG GT3 and GT4 are cases in point - both of them have 15.4" (390mm) 2-piece rotors up front and use 18" wheels. A 380mm rotor will give you an extra 5mm to play with, so it can definitely be made to work with the right caliper and bracket. So - if the existing calipers can be repositioned to clear the wheel size (the inside of the round portion) with the right bracket and a "cheap" aftermarket 2-piece rotor, that would be a winning combination.
P.S. @sventastic82 - the coffee hadn't quite kicked in when I wrote the reply above, but I understand exactly what you meant by the extra 10mm clearance between the OEM wheels and caliper, and you are 100% correct. I will have a look next time I wash the car as I have my 18" OEM winters on.

What keeps me from going to 390s is the fact that the spare wheel wouldn’t fit anymore. But there are spare wheels available for Mercedes’s which run 380mm rotors. Was trying to find one for 390s as well but no luck so far.
