Official exhaust software upgrade

date and no updates after that but since they did this update I have a noticeable difference particularly in Spot+ and race mode.
It sounds like it's not if a car had a build date prior to 12/2016 where there is an issue but that any car that had the "previous updates" unexpectedly had a decrease in their volume, and the current update fixes it back to where it would have been prior to that previous update. If you never had that previous update done and your car was built before that update existed, that would explain why some cars don't see that big of a difference or why certain cars wouldn't come up as needing it (ie. clueless dealers).
I guess I'm reading it like this. Say the prior update came out in Spring 2016 (I don't know the actual date, I'm just assuming a random date), the scenario would be as follows:
- Pre-Spring 2016 build date without any updates to the car since build --> Good exhaust sound (new update won't make much of a difference)
- Pre-Spring build date but had software updated prior to the current update --> Quieter exhaust sound, needs current update to reset sound
- Spring 2016 through 12/2016 build date --> Came from factory with quieter exhaust, needs update
- Post-12/2016 build date --> No need for update, has current software
I have no clue if this is correct or not, but reading the above quoted lines leads one to believe this is the case.

Can you post your bulletin numbers???

I have no idea if this includes the traction and tranny updates, as well.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Which dealer did you use. Might be worth me contacting them as my dealer has no idea and says that the update doesnt exist
i don't know why they are all being so difficult about it! All they need to do is search the reference from the bulletin and they'll find it.

I spent the weekend driving the car with the update and man what a difference. If you thought your overrun cracks and pops were loud before well... prepare yourself. We're talking gunshot loud now.
The two biggest improvements are when revving in neutral and when building boost/wide open throttle and letting off the gas abruptly. There are more pops and cracks when revving in neutral and they sound more violent - and more frequent as well (I only need to rev to 3500 or so rpm and get 4 crazy loud pops, whereas before I had to rev to 4500 or so and it was only 2 pretty loud pops). When accelerating/building boost and letting off the throttle you now get these epic loud cracks. I was driving around in the Boston tunnel's and it sounded like a gun battle in there

For exactly zero dollars, it is absolutely worth the effort of getting the update done - which thanks to my service advisor was extremely easy! After he heard the exhaust update himself, he said he's going to tell all the other C63S owners about it.
Get it done
I dropped my car off today (I've owned it for half a day, ha!) and the SA called to say they successfully applied the update. He did mention that the tech noted a definite increase in volume.
Excited to pick it it up tomorrow and check It out in person. Granted, I've only driven the car for 2 hours so far, but I sure could tell that it was way too quiet. Zero pops/burbles when letting off the gas or revving in neutral.
I'll report back with what I think sometime after tomorrow afternoon.

Will update once it's done - figures crossed.

I believe that is one of the main reasons.
