new C63S but no backfire in S+ or RACE...
love the new car but what really annoys me is that there is no backfire in S+ or RACE mode! the exhaust sound is pretty loud when engine speed picks up from 1K to 4K (i would say VERY loud) but there is no backfire when i shift down, not a single one in S+ or RACE mode. I played with the invividual mode as well as the exhaust controller with no luck.
is this normal for a new car? Called the dealer and was told he will have a look when the car is due for the first rear LSD oil change when the car hits 1800 miles.
thanks!

That's odd, my car backfires when I let my foot off the gas in S+ mode with the valves open. Maybe bad gas? The car is brand new, so maybe it's just not letting you rev it high enough for the backfiring to happen. Be mindful of the break-in period!

Revving to 4500+ rpms in 2nd gear and quickly lifting your foot off the gas pedal, in S+ or race mode, should definitely yield multiple backfires.
If not, your car may have the old software... But I'd still think you'd be get something.
NO backfires?

Probably Needs The Software Update
OP,
Check out this thread.
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-...e-upgrade.html
Bring it in and have your service manager check the software version. You shouldn't need to wait for LSD service. It either has the newest software or it doesn't. If its not the software then it's probably the valves or valve controllers.
And like Palaptine said, if you drive in 2nd gear and goose the throttle a little then quickly let off you should always get the crackle and pop in S+/R.

thanks for all your input guys. I brought the car to the dealer and it went through a check. No new software is available for my car (March 2017 Production). However the guys agreed that my car is lack of typical pops and bangs in S+/Race. We tried 3 times in Race mode together and lifted pedal at 4500rpm (given in break-in period). Only one pop was generated once and no pop at all in other 2. He said he had expected "multiple". on the flipside, he said the exhaust sound is much louder than he expected during the acceleration. He suspects AMG may have changed the engine software again although he is not aware of any officially. (this is his first 2017 production C63 drive so he cannot compare this to other March 17 production c63. the demo car in the dealer ship is july 16 production car with upgraded software.). he tried to "update" the engine software to the Nov version and the system didn't allow this version to be installed on my car... He will ask technical support in AMG and get back to me. btw, this car is in UK, if this matters...
