Can you post up pics of the secondary cats? I want to be sure I have the correct item when I bring into the shop.

I meant from the side. The pics above were looking inside. Are they easy to access for removal?

Thank you for the link to the ASR - I am trying to see the instructions to see where it gets installed.

Yeah its easy. Any shop would be able to take them out, but the problem is finding a shop willing to do it due to its legality.

I’ll post photos soon. I’ll also post my translated instructions document for the ASR.

Secondary Cat removal would not be illegal in NA as far as I know.

I attached the document below.

1. Open the trunk
2. Lift the floor of the trunk, remove the lining on the right side closest to you
3. You'll find a connection for which the wires are matching to the color of the ASR module's wires
4. Disconnect these wires and place the ASR module in between
Done. Super easy.

Thanks for this. Placing my order now. Hopefully this is exactly what this car needs.

Which controller remote type did you go with? Any thoughts on which one to pick?

it definitely makes a huge difference.

if it were up to me I’d get the one with the numbers, it seems much more intuitive to me.

emailing them I never got to choose. I got the one with the locks. Doesnt really matter, you’ll only ever be pushing one button lol

Damn, ASR Germany told me to order with their US distributor Renntech

Saw similar thing happen in the E63S forum... Renntech tax comes to $620, ouch

That's odd. They were selling loads of them on here last year?! Loads of folks have had them delivered to US direct from ASR so must be a new thing if true.

Yeah, got mine not too long ago.

That’s too bad.

There is another company that makes an identical product. Its been discussed in this forum. Can’t remember the name but it should be cheaper than 620.

That is quite a markup from $375 US to $620. If ASR was really charging that much, sure, but that just sours it to see that much markup (especially since Renntech as a distributor gets them for less than $375).

Just took off my ASR module since I'm going in for servicing soon - for the heck of it gave the car a couple of revs in sport+ mode after taking it off, and was a little surprised that I was able to get quite a few back to back crackle and pops in park.

I remember before I put the ASR module on, it would stop after 1, but now I could do it almost back to back. For reference I had it on right after break in for the past 1500+ km

But also, please note, I've hadn't had any issues with the exhaust, I get cracks and pops in sport+ any time I'm over 3k rpm while letting off the throttle - so your mileage may vary against mine

Thomas from Automotive Passion UK reached out to me and offered 305 pound sterling (~$410) shipped. Looked like a couple of E63 guys used them too, so seems legit? Placed an order, will update on how it goes.

2017 here 40k miles w/ an AWE track exhaust. ive held off on doing any sort of service at the dealership for the past 2 years due to this VERY THREAD. was forced to bring it there 2 weeks ago when i had my radiator and intercoolers changed after an accident, they did all recalls and a dreaded software update.

my car is a ****ing shell of itself. i can confirm literally each and every complaint here on this thread, it sounds muffled in sport+. the burbles are still there, but theyre muffled. if you have a pre-facelift, absolutely opt out of every single software "update" they want to give you.

Maybe I'm biased at this point but it still doesn't sound like the 2018s and prior to me. There has to be something somewhere quieting down the exhaust.
May be it is in the primary cats then? Only other option is inside the mufflers.

Software updates for ECU is a one way street unless you program a new ECU into the car. There might be another way, but depends if tuners are able to virginize these ECUs yet.

Huge thanks to you man.

Finally got mine and installed it. Now THIS is what this car should've sounded like from factory. Much louder at idle and while driving around with a nice deep growl. The car also backfires like no tomorrow in S+ revving. Makes me think the ECU detects a change in the exhaust freer flowing.

Also, this car absolutely pumps in fake sound lol. Mercedes did a good job of trying to hide it. Tested while on the highway with about 30-50% throttle. With the stock exhaust button on/off, there is a very noticeable fake noise that appears in the cabin when throttle is applied. Doesn't show up while revving in park.

Did you only add the ASR, or did you do the cat deletes too?

Bought mine from here https://automotivepassion.net/produc...ift-cars-2019/
The box it arrived in lacked in bubble wrap and was crushed and ripped when I got it. Module still worked fine though, and I nicely got both versions of the remotes.

Only ASR. I don't think I personally need any additional volume, very happy with the results
