Hi Stuart,

Check the fluid level in the ABC reservoir.

There's a lot you can tell from the fluid level, but for now be happy if there is still some in there.

If its empty, don't even start the engine.

If you have a warning light on, try to avoid the temptation to change the suspension height, unless you're at home.

Garages generally aren't much help with things like this.

Hi Nick

There is fluid in the reservoir and its fairly clean

I put the suspension up to its max height yesterday , went to its full height ok but when lowered it fell rather than gently lowered? maybe that caused the message

Its ok it wont be going into a garage , its just me who will do all the work

if fluid is clean and full and it goes up/down when using the ride height button you are probably ok

Sudden drop for lowering...sticky solenoid in the valve block, maybe. Did it seem that the drop was sudden for one end of the car in particular? If it doesn't do it again, I'd say don't worry about it. I would agree with Nick, don't start trying to play with things you're unsure of unless you're home. Bit of a pain trying to sort the car out on the side of the road or in a car park.

"Fluid is fairly clean" ?? If it is not light green in colour and really clean, I would change it together with the ABC filter.

Hot or cold doesn't matter much. It matters whether the engine is running, and the system is pressurized, in which case the fluid level is lower. The fluid is used to compress the nitrogen in the four accumulators.

If the oil level DOESN'T go down by the right amount, ( either too little or too much) that points to an accumulator problem somewhere.

Thanks Nick

I shall report back on that

In the following picture of the charge cooler top up cap , should the water level be near the top , I topped up with anti freeze and I know I will need to vacuum bleed

Also is there a dipstick missing from the tube behind in picture

Yes, it needs to be vacuum bled, and yes, the coolant should be at the top.

I bet a lot of V12TT's are like that, and will be much slower than they should be as a consequence.

The Mercedes IC bleeding tool uses a compressed air vacuum pump, which is quite inadequate IMHO. This is what you really need:

Vacuum refill kit:

Rotary vane vacuum pump

There's no dipstick missing, though the dipstick tube cover / cap is missing.

That's the tube for the transmission dipstick, which is a garage tool

Readily available on-line. They stick out of the dipstick tube when inserted.

Definitely worth getting. Both difficult and important to get transmission oil level right.

Nothing unusual; nothing to worry about.

Its sealed with an O-ring, not a gasket.

Removing and dropping nuts, bolts, screws and washers in the V12 engine
compartment is an occupational hazard.

Oh that's ok then , they seem secure enough , I'm just not a fan of missing bolts and screws.

I'm still waiting on my cooling system filler to bleed the charge coolers. Is it possible if the pump is dead or system not maintained that the fluid can be boiled out.

Another question front tyres are 255 35 19 , anyone have an idea on a correct cold pressure.

Guys

Here is a pic of ABC level with engine running, it's at lower part of dipstick

On start up engine cold and not been run over weekend , loud buzzing can be heard and felt from oil filter housing , went away when hot, oil level on dash display says oil level correct , is the noise normal?

Any sign of leaks from any of the ABC hoses or struts? Any corner of the car drooping overnight?

a loud buzzing on startup is a symptom of a failing pump

Their is wetness on one of the hoses that runs along the front of the car

the buzzing is from the oil filter , could it be transferred from the pump? To the oil filter housing
