ran a CL63 on the highway with my 07 CL600
And yeah Juice, you're a great member on these forums. I totally respect you're AMG ownage at the drag strip. What we are arguing about is the performance of the cars themselves, not who crossed the line first. The Z06 race was a perfect example. You beat him but if the driver was as good as you (or even if he was half-assed) he would have raped you. You won that race and nobody will take that away from you, but that doesn't prove that the E63 is a superior performer to the Z06. Same goes for the E55 vs E63. The E63 won but the E55 posted better times. Meaning that the E55 was quicker/faster. The driver of the 63 won but his car wasn't as quick/fast as the 55.
I cant really get into specifics in the world of drag racing but I can say that Juicee's car is very quick and I must say its faster than a stock E55k.
I have an E55 and I think its a good car for what it is. Some days I get frustrated that it heat soaks or that it has SBC but hey its give and take.
Juicee what nice enough to let me use his CLS at a track even at Pahrump for a session and I must say it was an amazing car. Everything about that car left me realizing that my E55 was not in the same ball park. I wont go into why it was better on the road course since this looks like a battle about 1/4 times.
What I can say is that when I was in his CLS and I came out of a slow corner behind an E55 (stock) I would gain on that E55 and get next to him on a straight. I was not coming out of the corner any faster than the E55 nor was I doing anything to special to get make the 63 faster. It just have to say that from a 30 mph roll on to say 130, the 63 engine and the 7g tranny moves out a lot better than a E55k.
The two cars are total opposites. One is a high revving, refined, smooth, race like engine while the other is a atom bomb off the line that is a bit more crude and which also dies off on the top end due to poor flow and heat soaking from the nuclear reactor between the cylinder banks.
Both are great cars and each has different strengths. I think these 63 engines have a big range on power from one car to another. I know C32's and E55's had that same issue. You can get one car that runs like a bull and another that runs like a sleepy dog. Juicee's car is closer to the bull and I completely respect that 63 engine.
For modding and drag racing a 55 might be the better choice but the 63 is closer to an M5 than a E55 and I consider that a good move.
No flaming please its all just a good debate. Clearly its my point of view.
No I know my car is not faster than a Z06.
I understand everyones points very clearly
I care more about putting together the best race my car can run. My car will never trap what a ZO6 can, weight is the prob there. My car will never run what a modded 65 or 600 will run. My focus would be on being the best driver and doing the most with my stock 63. I am not delusional or dreaming. I can say with a degree of certainty that my CLS 63 is equal to a CLS 55 on a 1/4 mile track. While I can beat an SL65 in a drag race it would certainly not make me think my car is faster. Like Vic said, so much power can be difficult to handle. Even with traction issues Jays 600, Vic 65, would destroy my car. I would need help from a slipping belt or failed pump. LOL. Keeping the comparison fair lets just stick to the 63 stock vs the 55. I just do not share the opinion that the 55k blows away the 63. I am simply talking the cars out of the box. I respect these guys, I wish we could all get together and bury some Audis and Porsches. I am a dreamer but I am not dreaming I race the car daily and I am not making up the results. My car is trapping higher than the 55 and my ET is lower. Is my car faster than the CLS 55? NO, they are too close for me to say.
Thanks for settling down this out of control thread with a very good post

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

"WORLDS MOST POWERFUL NATURALLY ASPIRATED EIGHT CYLINDER PRODUCTION ENGINE"
From AMG
%^&*&%$, you said that your beloved E63 engine was the :
Displacement refers to the SIZE of the engine and not the output. The number of liters an engine has is its displacement. The 2007 Z06 engine has a displacement of 7.0L but an E63 has a displacement of 6.2L. What engine has the largest displacement of those two engines? The Z06 has the largest displacement V8 engine when you compare the two.
HP refers to the power an engine makes and it's a derivived from a formula that converts torque and RPM into a number. RPM * torque/5252 = that number.......it's called horsepower and not displacement. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE NOW?
Now let's talk about drag racing. One car runs a 1/4 mile in 12.4 @ 115 mph. The other runs the 1/4 mile in 12.6 @111. Which car is quicker and what car is faster? The car that ran the 12.4 @ 115 is quicker and faster than the one that runs a 111 mph and a 12.6 ET. UNDERSTAND? The quicker/faster car may not always be the one that crossed the finish line first, see reaction times.
If the cars were running the same race and the driver with the slower trap speed and ET beat the car with the faster ET and trap speed, it would mean that the other guy was asleep at the light. Yes, the slower car may have won the race but it does not mean he has the quicker/faster car; rather, it means he was the better driver with a better reaction time. Understand?

you know but without videos and all this is probably photoshop, right SamsonZ

You're funny Jay....dont put words in my mouth!!
Personally, time slips are good enough and Jay is so far the fastest CL in the nation (he's very competitive with those Renntech modded SL,CL so he has nothing to prove except for beating the Renntech modded guys!!) The fastest 65 is in Germany with 10.5; thats the only one i know of.
If the 63 is tuned right, it can be a beast also, just that the 7g tranny is on the weaker side. That's our only concern.
Each different engine has its advantages and weaknesses; but guys we represent Mercedes Benz.

Real men drive supercharged cars!

I can say this because being 1,300 miles apart, Jay will never dust me on a track!

thinking the E63, CLS63, is = to ANY E55K, did you already forget? you have modded your cls63 w/filter removal & high perf Michelin Cups, Tires???Nearly 100% of the E55k records your dying to equal let alone beat
were BONE STOCK E55K's DOWN TO THEIR PAPER FILTERS & Dealer installed Conti's
cls55k has already been shown to be substantially slower then the E55k's ie..Due to heavier weight or Mercedes de-tuning like they tried to do w/the E55k's that has ben heavily documented by multiple owners on this forum.
Carry on

The 63 is as strong as a 55 quite kidding yourself.

Question for the 63 owners, whats up with all the quarter mile times posted with corrected numbers (as your sig) I have seen of late? I understand what corrected times mean but why post them, I never saw an E55 owner post a corrected time slip or 600 owner or a 65 owner. Or maybe I just wasnt looking that hard, my bad if I missed them.
I guess if my 55 ran an 11.79 I would just post that time not change to adjust it since "it is what it is" right? Can you truly guarantee that your run with adjustments would actually be the corrected time? Is the formula guaranteed? I need more track training I guess
