Ahhh. No.

It's same place driver side. It's an aluminum box held in with 4 rubber feet that push into place. 2 connectors that plug in.

Sorry thought you had a cl63 not 65.
Yes it is that Bosch metallic square box held in by four rubber connections. Just pull slowly with leverage and it will pop out.

Do you remove both metallic plates?
Also, do the black plastic with the wires on top of the metal have to be removed? Thx.

You need to unplug all the wires first before you could remove the ECU

How about the TCU/ECT?

Does the battery really have to be disconnected to pull the TCU/ECT

I want to check for trans oil in the tcu box
for the famous trans oil wicking-from-the-tcu-harness wire/wire-insulator into the a TCU box issue.

They found a bit of oil last time the tcu was tuned so I'm not sure how fast it's wicking.. As in months, really years. The oil is apparently harmless to the tcu circuit board and can be drained and cleaned. Apparently the root cause of the wicking was due to the harness connector old o rings that just needed the updated ones.

Just wanna take a peak.. First time ecu tcu newbie pull

The ECU & TCU are on the passenger side of a '05 CL65. There is a box with both in about the same location you are looking but the opposite side of the car. Take off the cover. The ECU is closer to the center of the car than the fuse/relay block. Just unplug the wire harnesses and lift it out. The TCU is on the opposite side of the fuse/relay block. A little tougher to get out. Lift the relay/fuse block out and you will be able to get your hands down to unplug the two TCU wire harnesses. Unplug them and lift it out. I would definitely disconnect the battery.

Great info right there. Made the removal easy-peasy.

You welcome.

When I tried to remove my TCU I was told it was in the passenger footwell, then it was "under" the ECU. Too much bad info out there so I did not want you to waste time figuring it out like I had to.
