CL Weight Saving

Didn't know where to post this to be honest but maybe we can share some ideas on how to shave some unnecessary weight of our CLs.

Apart from forged lightweight wheels I've also had rotors custom made for my 55k. Results are below. The weight is in kilos.

Front OEM @ 36.18 lbs:

Floating front custom @ 26.94 lbs:

Rear OEM @ 21.01 lbs:

Fixed rear custom @ 16.42 lbs:

Had them made to OE dimensions, hence 2 new OE discs in the pictures.

That is exactly what these cars need is a good diet. Rotating mass is def the way to go. So far I bought Recaro seats that weigh in at 20lbs with brackets vs our OEM 70+lbs seats each. Rear spare along with tools saves a bit also.

Your worst nightmare...
That's a good start. Stock rotors are extremely heavy!

I'm banking on completely removing ABC being a sizable reduction once it's all said and done

Who did the rotors and how much?

I wish there was more info available about the chassis/body structure. Also curious of the type of sound deadener used in terms of weight and any structure that may exist only for crash testing and not integrity. I would guess the glass moonroof and motor is a few pounds.

They sure are. Each front rotor is 50% heavier than the whole w215 front subframe!

My rotors look the same and I also had custom aluminum hats made a few years back for them. Sure saves a lot of weight.
