A220 Problems

I have owned my 220 for three months. I love the ride but there are a few problems driving me crazy.
I cannot get traffic information nor can I get traffic announcements. After talking to various people at the dealership and Mercedes Me, I was told this feature does not work, has never worked, and they do not know when it will work.
Is this true? Has anyone gotten traffic announcements?

The GPS is often wrong and has old information. Is an update available?

Finally the Easy Access feature does not work. If it is on, and I turn off the car, when I reach for the handle to open the door, the back of the seat moves up, pushing me into the steering wheel.
Not only is it difficult to get out of the car, it is almost impossible to get back in. The dealership has "fixed" this problem three times.
They told me that I may be too tall for this feature to work. By the way I am 5' 8".
Any solutions?

same issue for easy entry. I am 5ft 10. Doesn’t even work for 5ft8

this could probably be fixed with an update if we can reach the right people.

I am not sure on traffic announcements. I have not seen that for mine

I am in the US. No elect steering wheel adjusters...but my seat does pull forward whenever I stop the engine and open the door. I’m 6ft and it does help get me closer to the door for easy exit.

Are you sure the traffic is supposed to "talk"? I think it turns the streets to different colors depending on traffic conditions, green for good, yellow for somewhat slow and red for bad slow traffic. There is a little "LiveTraffic" indicator to show it's working and receiving a signal.
Your seat doesn't sound like it's working right, I thought the easy exit moved the seat back and down to allow you to exit? Moving it closer to the steering wheel would make it harder to exit. With option OFF nothing should happen. You need to have a serious talk with someone who knows something at the dealer.

Traffic Info and Easy Entry

According to the manual, there are supposed to be announcements about traffic. These announcements should be either written or verbal.
If approaching a major traffic problem, the navigation system should suggest an alternative route. I am not getting any of this information.

The car has been taken to the dealership numerous times. It has been "fixed" at least three times, yet, the easy entry feature still does not work.

Mercedes Me and Mercedes Customer Service have not been helpful.

A few weeks ago I spoke to a new person at Mercedes Me. He told me that he understood my frustration.
He was going to study the problem and promised to call me back within a hour. He finally called me seven hours later and still knew nothing about how to resolve my car problems.
I have owned Mercedes Benz vehicles for 20 years and have never experienced anything like this.

Buying One
I don't use easy entry so no comment there. Waze I find annoying, too much information. I've compared Google Maps to the A220 navigation system, so far they have both performed pretty much equally, e.g., if a condition changes the A220 will reroute me and it does seem to find the best routes.

On the GPS..did you load the 18 GB of files to update your car after you bought it? Otherwise you're working from old data.

Thanks for the info. Please try the easy entry, it is very simple to find and turn on. Then let me know if the seat moves back or forward when you turn off the car and open the door to get out.
My A220 has never suggested an alternate route when I am in bad traffic. I bought the car on 6-14-19, not sure why my GPS would be out of date. How do I load the 18 GB?

I had a 2014 CLA. When I got in the car, I pressed the Navigation Button, then Traffic. On the screen would be a list of the major highways. For example it indicated that on I-65 North between exits 5 and 15 there was slow traffic.
Why doesn't the A220 have similar information? According to the manual I should be getting verbal and or written traffic info. I get neither.

It’s probably cause I have my seat reclined a little farther back than the norm. Therefore, I thought it would help me get out if the vehicle when the seat pushes forward. I will talk to the dealer to see if mine is malfunctioning.

In the Manual on Page 316 - if traffic information has been received, then traffic incidents like roadwork, road blocks, fog, and warning messages are displaced. The traffic delay is displayed for the current route.
There is also Car-to-X-Communication. There are supposed to be warnings about areas to be avoided.
I DON'T GET ANY OF THIS INFORMATION.

My auto seat adjust also does not move the seat back, though it does make the back more upright.

This is really annoying when I get in after my much shorter wife has been driving.

It's even more annoying because the driver profile (and seat position) is not tied to the smart key. My last half dozen cars did tie the smart key to the profile so I thought it would be universal with smart keys and seat memory. After careful perusal of the owners manual I have concluded that Mercedes does not do this.

Smile Upon door open

I just reread the manual...the seat is supposed to move back and the seat back is supposed lean forward. Upon door open, the latter works for me since I have my seat reclined quite a bit. I also have my seat pretty far back so that’s why it doesn’t move back when the door is open. To test this, I had my seat closer to the pedals and opened the door. It did move back and the seat back leaned forward. So it is working as described in the manual.

The only real issue I have with mine is the truck feature where you move your foot under it... works maybe 5% of the time. Never when my hands are full of stuff haha!

It works on mine 90% of the time. Make sure your key fob is not in the same pocket as your phone.

Canada build? I don't think american versions have anything to do with the phone other than using the app to remote start.

As for the phone I think he means just general interference, some I have to move the in my pocket just to get the doors to lock or unlock because I carry some metallic items in the same pocket. You're right it does not use the phone.
as for learning to swing your foot properly to open or close it just takes practice. Swing your foot only in one direction under the car. You look like an idiot doing it but once you get the hang it it does work great when you have things in your hands. Even works to close the truck. About the only time it doesn't work is when I've mixed the key into stuff in my pocket periodically. I know I have a different car but the mech is the same across the MB line.

Mexico build. I had a 2013 C250 before and based on my experience, when the key fob is in contact with the phone, the keyless go function when opening the door sometimes doesn't work. I have to remove my phone first from my pocket and then it will work.

I do it in the middle of the trunk with a forward and backward motion, not side to side.

From the manual:

With HANDS-FREE ACCESS you can open the
trunk lid by performing a kicking movement
under the bumper.
