New Key for $68 (remote) + $4.50(blade key) + shipping
1. Some of you may be familiar with AMGEE's thread concerning getting keys for prices similar to the title of this thread.
2. His vendor raised the prices.
3. A similar website raised their prices too.
4. I may have discovered another vendor that is still selling it for cheap.
5. I've made the order and paid and am waiting for them to ask me for my VIN and registration (proof of ownership)
6. If and when I get the key, I'll spill the beans and let everyone know where they can get yours.
7. In the meantime, please sit tight while I continue being the guinee pig paying for an item that may never arrive.

MY EXPERIENCE:
- After reading AMGEE's thread, I called 3 dealers in my area.
- All of them changed the part number despite me insisting them not to. They claim to have no choice and the computer changes the part number automatically. This may or may not be true.
- I searched like a madman online to find a dealer.
- He responded by quoting me the lower price!
- When I called him, he seemed confused why it was so cheap. He insisted that prices for keys are $175+. I told him I'd take the risk of getting the wrong part and gave him my credit card info. $72.50 + shipping.
- I was in too much of a hurry to ask how much shipping charges were. Stupid me.

- He said the order would be put through Mercedes first thing Monday and Mercedes will ship me the part.
- I'm trying to decide whether I should fax him my VIN and registration now or wait until he asks.
Dealers are clueless and so are most of the online vendors. They have no idea why the price is the way it is and if they find out the part number is a key, they will be very suspicious and question it. Either that, or they'll try to help you buy locating the "proper" part number for the key that you're looking for. The vendor I was working with wanted to call Mercedes dealership to find out what part it was. I told him that we dont' need to do that and I'll pay in advance and take the risk.
I'm taking the risk and being the guinee pig for all of you. Risking my $72.50 to save $175 (regular price from Mercedes dealerships
) In the end, I might end up losing over $200.HOW DO I GET A KEY OF MY OWN???
Subscribe to this thread to get the up-to-date news as I follow up with more information as it becomes available.
Once the key arrives to my house (if it ever does) and I can verify that it's fully functional, I'll be sure to let everyone know the vendor's name, website info if any, contact, location, phone number, representatives name and how you can get keys of their own. Until then, I don't want to overwhelm the company and risk some of you making an order and having it not go through. It would just be horrible if all of your guys followed my footsteps only to not get the key and waste your money.
Please stand by....

For those that are under warranty, a few dealerships have willingly replaced a cracked "old" key with the new style key...just an FYI.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I searched day in and day out all over the web and made tons of calls to get a good price. In the end, even if i get the key it's probably not worth the time for most of you folks. But I just love getting deals. And I hate Mercedes for trying to rip us off. I guess mostly that was the motivation. If it comes through, it'll save you guys tons of time and agony.
I'll keep you guys posted. Order isn't supposed to go through until Monday b/c I made the order pretty late this evening towards the late afternoon. I should have results by mid next week.
Wish me luck.
