Plastic bumper flaps and fake square exhaust tips doesn't separate the 63 much from the 53 design. Having to wait this long for an unaffordable C coupe, excitement fizzled out.. They need to reveal something even more special at this point like a Black Series or unlock additional paint colors (Green Hell Magno?) to save the CLE 63 from being another flop. Gold wheels too please.

That's the first I've ever seen that info that he discusses (i.e. the later part as everyone knows about the initial I4/P3 drivetrain) and also the only vid I've ever watched of this youtuber from start to finish as I'm not a fan of he's vids and style of representation, I usually turn off after the first couple of minutes lol.

Another new release that further bolsters the chance of a V8 CLE 63.
It claims Mercedes will retain the V8 for future models and even the V12 for a new line of S Class.

More info in this German article. The new V8 is gonna have a flat-plane crank like the AMG GT Black Series. That explains the recent sound bites. Having driven the Black Series, I can confirm that the sound on the outside is rather weak and instead it's all pumped into the cabin. Looks like this new engine is based on the Black Series engine and will similarly feature a sound module for the cabin. The Black Series is very loud inside, but I'm assuming they'll tone it down for a more everyday car such as the CLE 63. The other thing is that flat-plane crank engines normally are high-revving engines, but the BS only revs to 7200 rpm. It does however improve how freely it revs at the top. So the CLE 63 could potentially have over 600 hp, especially with the hybrid assist. The Black Series makes 720 hp for context.

That's even more that what I and a whole lot of other people would have expected that the CLE63 would get a V8 and the most exotic version of it to boot...
A properly modified exhaust will bring the sound out of it, won't be as good as a NA FP V8 but they do still sound very good and unique.

I'll repost my lap in the BS below as a reference of what it might sound like. Keep in mind, though, it sounds nothing like that on the outside. It's all pumped into the interior. The rev happiness of the flat-plane crank is nice and makes for sweet throttle blips on the downshifts. You can kinda hear that it's so loud it overpowers the mic. We'll see what it sounds like in the less extreme CLE, but as you can hear, it's a very different sound. Certainly emotional behind the steering wheel, but it was a bit off putting when stepping out and it sounded nothing like this on the outside. Not necessarily anything wrong with that. It's made to be enjoyed by the driver and not annoy the bystanders.

It sounds good with quite a bit of C8 Z06 in there and for certain it's a lot like what the C8 ZR1 sounds like...
Raz from RBR has one of those and it sounds pretty damn good with his modified exhaust.

^^^^ Maybe but personally I doubt it as that would put it in a very low volume category, MB have clearly stated that they want to ramp up sales - maybe at the end of the model cycle run they could do a Black Series.
