AMG seems to be willing to take the hit and bank on the future. The CEO openly said in a recent interview that he thinks we'll all end up loving these cars and that people buy them for the technology and not the engine. He might well be right as younger generations come along who haven't driven the same cars that we have. How many of them even remember driving a stick shift, not to mention having the skills? We are at the point where Gen Z can't manage their lives w/o a smartphone anymore. They can't do anything w/o a smartphone and can't imagine a life before the phone, GPS etc. They can't even read a map anymore. Something similar is gonna happen to cars.

One things for certain and I'm confident enough to bet on it and i.e. it will not have the M139L/P3 Phev powertrain !
Most likely a revised and enhanced hand assembled variant of the I6 with MEH or some sort of new set up with the electrification part of it.
Not confident enough to bet on a V8 but IMO I still feel that's what it's going to be

That said, you could argue competitors like BMW has the M3 Competition and the 340i both having the six cylinder, both have its own set of buyers, so there is that.

Ya I guess the younger generation don't drift cars anymore, hence no more RWD in the C 63 (there is obviously the drift mode on 4MATIC+ vehicles but not the same), people seems to need 4MATIC when they really don't. I mean even bmw once said "OK, Boomer. And what’s your reason not to change?" not saying I agree with the statement but pretty bold that a German car manufacturer say such a thing.

Just had this in my feed. Doesn't he hit the nail on the head? My sentiments exactly. Some people keep saying things are changing and we have to get with the times, but I have to give it to Clarkson. I just don't care anymore about most modern cars. They are not worth owning.

Also it's the black car only that's of interest which clearly has no charge port like the latest coupe mules, this article still shows older mules with the rear PHEV port, I've got pics of those that date back to between September and November 2022.

The CLE 63 was originally planned to be released with the facelift of the model and not before, but I recently read a German article claiming that the timeline was supposedly moved up. They didn't say by how much, but that it was supposedly getting released ahead of the FL now.

Not really as mentioned by superswiss if they release it before the FL update it'll be sooner than later, the CLE range was officially released in 2023 with prototype mules around since 2021.

autoevolution take on the CLE63 vert mule, they still think it's going to be V8 powered
Also interesting that they mention the next gen M3/4 will retain I6 powertrains because of the good demand/sales compared with the opposite for the W205 C63.

I'm saving every penny in case I want to upgrade - but I don't think I'll be able to save enough - my guess is $30-$40K more than the CLE53 (not sure what that is in EU)

Been waiting on CLE 63 for a year. Spoke with my dealer today and they have nothing "official" on the car. Seems like a looooong wait! Wondering if it will come out later this year as a 2026 model??

Totally agree, the top CLE variant needs the V8 in order for it to be the complete package and 100% represent what the true AMG ethos is all about !!!
Here in Australia the CLE53 has not yet arrived in showrooms...I'm guessing its price point will be around 200k AUD & cannot see the 63 if fitted with a V8 coming in at less that 250k AUD.
I've been waiting since 2021 ! even though at that point in time the prototypes had the I4/P3 of the W206 C63. Your right though, it's been a very loooooooooooong time for this model variant, combination of Covid industry hold ups and Mercedes doing a rethink and subsequent re-engineering of the powertrain is the main delay.
When it's finally released it'll be a whole model generation behind its direct BMW competitor...

63 Design Elements
Plastic bumper flaps and fake square exhaust tips doesn't separate the 63 much from the 53 design. Having to wait this long for an unaffordable C coupe, excitement fizzled out.. They need to reveal something even more special at this point like a Black Series or unlock additional paint colors (Green Hell Magno?) to save the CLE 63 from being another flop. Gold wheels too please.
