I was told that to do my breaks on my CLK 55 that I have to replace my roaters with pads. They said that they could not be turned as the metalic pads wear the roaters and would cause the roters to be to thin and start to warp on the second set?

recently paid about $500 for new rotors and pads at a local shop...

MB dealer wants around 500 for parts...+ like 550 for labor...

Brake discs are replaced with the pads if the discs are out of spec (too thin). They should not be turned.

From what Ive read, CLK brakes are nothing special to replace, and any ASE certifired shop should be able to do a great job. Id buy the rotors and pads online oempartsdirect.com is good for real MB OEM stuff, and take it to anyplace that doesnt rhyme with stealership....

My girl got charged about $400.00 at the dealer for front and rear pads on her C230 Kompressor. I did mine on my CLK 320, including new rotors for less than $200. It is not that hard and there is a very good write up on the DIY section on this forum.

I used Brembo rotors that I got on Ebay, from an individual seller not a vendor, and Axxiss Ultimate pads. The pads were from an Ebay vendor.
