FINALLY INSTALLED MY CLK55 Airbox w/ Green Filters
jalberto let me know what the deal is holmes. your input determines if i buy the airbox or not. thank you sir

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Airbox gives you a lillte more roar from the motor and racing results prior to airbox we would remain side to side after airbox half a cars length after about 40 mph.
Mod approved!
I'm working on a DIY section for my website and it’ll have ramblings about airflow. Hopefully that will be of some help. If nothing else I'll be able to cut back on the all night emails responses about how cars work. Anyway, airflow . . . . . . . . let's think about this, a normally aspirated 4.3 liter, spinning at 6000 RPM, at 100% volumetric efficiency (which we'll never come close to seeing), can only flow 455 CFM. Do you think there’s an exhaust impediment that limits flow below 400 CFM?
Lastly, O2 sensors are not used at WOT.

Is the log style manifold that has exhaust pulses banging off the back wall a problem? Definitely. Is the 90˚ bend in the exhaust tubing a problem? Absolutely. The low pressure zone created by the resonator? It could be better. The low pressure zones created by the cats are minimal and unavoidable (unavoidable if one wants to pass smog in the land of fruits and nuts). The size of the stock tubing? On a non-boosted 262 CI engine that doesn’t see more than 6K RPMs, hollow 2.5" exhaust tubing isn't the problem. Going bigger *may* produce a bigger peak dyno number. However, the problem with going too big is the velocity will fall through the floor, killing any semblance of scavenging along the way. Without midrange scavenging, the dyno will show lower numbers below peak, and the qtr mile trap speed will drop.
Have I got it all wrong? Possibly. But I'm in good company. The GM powertrain engineers think 3" ID tubing is good for the z06, but that engine is over 60% larger and revs to 7K. I know enough about air flow to know that my theoretical blathering about what sized tubing is OK can ONLY be proven using dyno numbers and backing those numbers up with trap speeds.
Going back to benzover's question, I don't *think* the exhaust is strained to the point where the AMG air cleaner assembly doesn't make a difference. Josh K's dyno numbers reinforce my opinion in this area.
1) past the hoses to the filters (less turbulence)
2) through the filters b/c it will allow a higher flow rate
3) and maybe (havent looked closely) from the filters to the manifold.
4) making this flow go through faster leaves slightly less time for the air to get heated up by the engine as well.
So as you see, the 2 challenges after the intake hoses are shape for direct flow and high CFM filters. Turbelent flow isn't terrible because it will enhance your gas mileage. However, the laminar (or normal) flow is better for volumetric intake and HP.
Devilsangel....I went with green cuz of the good things and gains that I've heard others gettin from usin them n also cuz I herd that many ppl who tried the k&n's ran into MAF issues after cleanin/reoiling....
Making fun of someone's out of producting car and then flaunting an old *** car is probably not the smartest thing to do. A nice house and nice car, but unattractive personality is so sad. I hope he pulls his head out of his *** soon and joins the rest of the mature folks here who can have a normal conversation without all the craziness.
I wish people like The Jury would either change for the better or completely get off the forum and leave this place for the normal people to speak amongst themselves without their insanity messing up the forum.
Good night.
