Front bumper

Ok guys I am a bone head and while parking in my work garage I slowly hit a pole at like 2 mph that cracked my front bumper where it can't be repaired so I have to get a new one. I just got an estimate of $1200 for a new front bumper is this good? Also is there any way I can find a new black front bumper which is the color of my car and do it myself? Any help or insight is appreciated.

-Ray

If it is the AMG one than yeah its a good price. Make sure they color match the car. I paid 1800 for silver real AMG front bumper and rear impact strip.

Occasionally they pop up on ebay for 600 or less. I got the replica **** one, because I figuered it would just get destroyed again, but it ended up fitting pretty dam good after some massaging to get it on right. It looks almost indestiguishable from the real bumper, and I saved over 1200 dollars.

I installed the IR-S bumper. It was about 400 to my shop and another two hundred to paint. only issue so far is how to remount the fog light and the turn dignal amber lens. The lens used on it are the 320 style.

other then that the wife loves it. for me thats all that matters.

The damage would have to be really substantial for you not to be able to fix it.
It's just an overpriced, and flimsy, piece of plastic. If you've built model airplanes, and can follow the direction on a simple filberglass kit, then its very do-able. Heck, the trickiest job is taking the thing off. Just invest a little time. It's fun and rewarding. Took me a weekend, and most of the time was spent waiting for resin and paint to dry between treatments. I got all the materials at Home Depot and Autozone. You're in an all-win situation. You've got to take it off anyway. The fiberglass materials will set you back less than $20. Take a shot at it. Can't do it, then buy a take-off.

Take a peak.

PS. If you're going to replace a stock part, then I've seen plenty of take-offs on ebay. Color makes no Diff. if you're going to paint it anyway. If your replacing stock, then while you have it off, do the Home Depot grill kit. Looks very good for at any price, especially at $12.
