Spark plug wires
Quick question, should I replace the wires when I do the plugs the car has approx. 107k. I'm getting different stories the dealer says they should be replaced as there is chance that they might misfire afterwards, but an indy shop I talk to said is not necessary unless I'm having issues with them now. I'm puzzled Any suggestions welcomed.
Thanks

If the wires are fine now, and the person who changes the plugs knows what they are doing (there is a plug wire tool), your wires will be fine when the plug change is complete.

Having the EXACT car as you and the EXACT mileage as well. I would recommend changing them to something high end. You'll notice that your car will idle so smoothly that it'll be like your car isn't even on.
Be sure to get the DENSO IRIDIUM Spark Plugs or the NGK IRIDIUM Spark Plugs with the wires.
I bought the $400+ EvoSport Wires, and man.... way better. That doesn't even include the 12 IRIDIUM plugs.

Happy owner of '98 CLK 320
Since I am a cheap *******, I am not about to change my spark wires before I think they are getting "old".
So, anyone know if there is a mileage timestamp only, or if there is also a timestamp in years? I have a '98, but its only on about 20K miles.

I do agree that if you're mechanic says you're original wires are fine then I would go with that. Keep in mind however, they don't last forever. And as for the dealer, of course they want to replace them because it's big money for them. They always want to replace everything.

I also replaced my wires and sparkplugs with Magnecore wires and Denso Iridium spark plugs. I'm not sure I felt a major difference, quite possibly a placebo effect.
