Need help please. Wheel bolt for spare wheel.

Hello Everyone,

I have a 98 CLK320 and in need of some information. I'm looking for the part number for the Wheel bolts for the spare wheel since they are different from the stock wheel bolts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

wheel bolts should be the same regardless of using the spare wheel or oem alloy.

I'm sorry that I don't have the specific answer you're looking for.

On my 2001 CLK 320 Cab; the spare wheel very different (steel vs alloy). It is thinner and requires shorter bolts (which were included in a plastic bag with the spare).

In this case, it's probably best to call the parts department at one of the dealers for the inforation.

They are definitely a different size as I have mine in a plastic bag right next to the spare tire. I got it from the dealership for about 10 bucks or so. I would give them a call in the morning.

Thanks for all the responses.

I tried my 2 local dealers and they can't seem to find the correct part. Would it be possible for someone to take a pic of the bolt so I can show it to them.

Thanks again.

Thumbs up Spare wheel bolts - CLK

There is a significant difference between the stock OEM alloy bolts and the spare rim bolts. The stock bolt for a 320 is a 12 X 1.5 X 40mm, would be a ball seat and the 40 mm is measured fro the shoulder to the end of the bolt.

If you need bolts, best thing to do is call a shop that sells a huge selection of custom wheels for high performance vehicles. Case in point...... I was installing a Mercedes rim with winter tires on it, but I needed longer bolts as my 320 has AMG 18 summers on it. Dealer quoted me $27 a bolt......called the wheel guy and took a rim down to him, he had bolts in stock ($3.95 a piece - chrome bolts), and dry fit the rim to make sure it was perfect.

This will also weed out whether you need a conical or ball seat for the spare.
