Is it bad to remove catalytic converter

I think my catalytic converter is clogged I wanted to remove it and make it a straight pipe coz my check engine light is on... I already replaced maf sensor, crank position sensor... Will this eliminate cel when I have it reset? Hope someone can answer thanks

u only can eliminate ur sec cats.if u remove ur primary cats it will cause the cel to stay on at all time.it might just be ur o2 sensors.

Dump the codes. You could replace A LOT of parts before stumbling across what's actually broken.

Exclamation My Clk320 misfires

Hi guys went to have the codes check and what came out was misfire on cylinder 4stored current ,5stored, 6 stored current...we replaced the coils and check for vacuum leaks also switch the coils around but its still on the same side... the problem is when i drive it start on a slow pace its ok then i speed up (flooring it for speed) on a high rev. the car starts to lose power then the engine shakes (CEL on) but when i restart it its back to normal again...only on very high speed the check engine comes on... i dont wanna give up on this car i really want to keep it... pls hope you could give me ideas i havent slept for the past few weeks...

MAF (CHANGED)
CPS (CHANGED)
CATALYTIC (Removed) 4pcs
CLK 320 (W208) 2001 @ 61,000 kms.

A muffler shop can test the cat by putting a pressure gauge on the primary O2 sensor port.

Exclamation cylinder 4,5, and 6

Good news guys problem solved the mechanic got the codes then evaluated everything from the driver side 4 5 6 cylinder that misfires he checked the coils, spark plug, vacuum leaks and found out that the O2 sensor is busted on the driver side and is giving wrong information to the ecu that is why it cuts off around 4k rpm especially when i speed up then the car starts to shake and CEL is ON......... now we replaced it with a new one thank God Black-Bird is back on his wings (CLK) hehe phew! Btw thanks again to all of you who answered my questions...

No problem rk,don't froget to remember which coils u replaced so ur not confused if this happens again.also do u think its a good idea guys for him to change his other coils now that he's changed a few?
