Considering buying 2002 CLk
I am looking at a 2002 CLK 4.3l V8 EFI Sohc 4.3l 128k miles. It is a one owner car that is from SC. Looks really nice and is very clean. I currently own a 2005 MB Sprinter but have no experience with this model. Is this model known for lots of problems? Anything in particular that I should look for before I buy it. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Out Of Control!!
You are looking at a fifteen year old car---what ever you pay for the car is the amount of repair expenses you will experience---choose wisely----I know the wife has to drive an MB!!

Vanuch the CLK is a great car but as Plutoe mentioned you are looking at a 15 year old car so there are issues but most can be handled by a competent diy. I would recommend you get familiar with the site that MarcusF sponsors that provides a wealth of information on the W208 CLK and tips on purchase and what may cause you some concern

I loved my 430 and would buy another in a second. There is no way to tell over the internet if it is a good deal or not. I would take it to a trusted MB indy shop and pay to have it looked over. You might also ask where it was serviced and check with that shop.

Well from my humble opinion you don't have to worry about air anything!! But i hope the interior is clean, and well looked after, and the exterior is in decent shape. Maintenance records will be key, and that alone will determine buying or running away. You can slap lipstick on a pig ,but its atill a pig. Depending on where you reside you'll find a few sellers unloading thier CLKs
It's a good strong vehicle hope this helps your decision.

Man, the W208 is bulletproof. Especially compared to some stuff that came after it. I'm not mentioning any model numbers but the 208 doesn't have a leaky gas tank, soft timing gears, or sensotronic brakes.
In fact, the 208 is better than bulletproof. Which would you rather have, small caliber arms fire to a bulletproof cup, or a CLK? That's proof positive that the CLK is BETTER THAN BULLETPROOF.
BTW, yes, that IS a bulletproof cup.
Now buy the car, then start postin' & toastin'

I've just bought a 2002 CLK 430 with 272K. It needs rear brakes, windsheild and the lower front fascia is torn off. I paid $1100 Canadian for it! Its my first Mercedes and already I'm getting a schooling! new windsheild is $500! yikes!

Five bills Canadian is about right. It's $350 U.S. from Safelite. For the bumper cover, you can pick up a used one and either paint it yourself or have it shot. Rear disks are $31 per side for ATE (good brand) or $54 per side for genuine Mercedes-Benz. Pads are $35 a set for ATE or $55 Mercedes-Benz. All prices AutohausAZ.
Then polish the headlights and you're set.
