tire pressure monitoring system
Waiting on delivery of a CLK550 cab fully loaded with 17" run flats and the tire pressure monitoring system but have not been able to get any information from the dealer nor online regarding the pressure monitoring system set up. Specifically, what type of sensors are utilized, how are they integrated into the wheel (e.g. I've seen some attached to the valve stem units, some wrapped around the wheel, etc.) and can the sensor/sender units be transferred to 18" or 19" aftermarket wheels and tires (assuming that the sensors are somehow removable from the stock wheels...either attached to the underside of the valve stems etc.). I got the run flat system as it was very cheap (like the sports suspension option which I also ordered) thinking that if I at least get the system, the receiver part of the system (in dash indicator) would be present and if I could transfer the sensor/sending units to other wheels everything would be cool. If not, then I would only be out the cost of the option when I switch to larger wheels. TIA for any solid information.
On another topic, I have always had shop manuals (maintenance procedures, complete wiring diagrams, assembly/disassemble info and part numbers, etc.) for all my Porsches (very expensive at $800 for a full set for the 928S4). I also have PDF files of the same for my G35 coupe (found online). I have not been able to find anything such shop manuals (either book form or digital media form) for the 2007 CLK550 cab, or for any other current MB. Does anyone have access to, or know of the availability of such information. I always like to have a copy of the srvice manual for each car I own to help out with mods, wiring and just to know how things are put together. TIA again.

the 209 does not have a ACTIVe system. It utilizes the ABS sensors to check rotational force difference to warn you. An Active system can be installed with sensors and a receiver but is NOT an option in the 209.

the w209 does not have tire monitor sensors in the wheels. it is done through the wheel speed sensors and detects if there is a loss of pressure in any or all of the tires by the decrease in rotational speed. i have the system on my car and prefer it over the other mb monitoring systems that check actual tire pressures through the tire pressure control module. that system if very problematic and causes the light to come on even if the pressure is accurate because of faulty sensors and control modules.

2005 and later CLK cars can have the TPMS activated using a star diagnose system. Just software coding is required. Earlier cars cannot do this since their EIS and ABS modules do not support this coding.

anyone know how to reset the TPMS/RFI? mine came on shortly after putting my spring/summer tires back on. Sure enough, front left tire was down a few pounds. Now that I've corrected it, I get an alert that says "check tire pressure and reset RFI" or something to that effect. Pressing the reset button just clears my trip odometer!
