You mean you change tires each 5k-6 miles??? Do you do a lot of burn outs or something because that's a ridiculous digression rate. Your tire life is about 5 times under the usual expectancy, correct me i'm wrong.

I can think of one thing that comes to mind is that you might have a problem with your rear shock and there could be rubbing. I had this happen to me with my front right strut which is bent and the tire creates vibration through rubbing. Vibration is not the worst of it all, it is also the wear.

I suggest you bring to a stealership or have an indy shop take a look.

I know it's the rear tires, but*where* is it wearing? The center? Inside? Pretty evenly? Or?

Yup, you need to answer his questions before we can help you. Here's some signs of abnormal tires wear. Center - over inflated, inner and outer - under inflated, inner only - negative camber, outer only - positive camber, spot wear all over - bad balance or bad strut/shock.....etc.

Premature tire wear

They wear pretty much evenly - both tires at the same rate also.

one thing - not in the case of back tires only - we have a street around my house which they re-paved with some kind of rocks from hell and asphalt. These rocks or pebbles or whatever you want to call 'em, the paving material, are sharp as razor blades. you can actually see tiny cuts on the tires just driving this 1/4 mile stretch. needless to say i avoid it, but maybe if you stood on the gas on a piece of road like this, it would shred tires.. just sayin

I find this statement unbelievable. So it's either a spoof - or there is something important we haven't been told here.

It's normal that for a RWD car, the rear tires are worn faster than the front.

I found that for my 2004 CLK320, the rear right tire always wears more than the left. 2 technicians from MB told me in separate occasions that for cars with traction control, the rear right tire is the tire who rotates first to test the traction.

man...im about to create another thread about this matter. I had a friend who has the CLK500-03 and his rear right tire is eat up very fast compare to the left. I told him to get the camber kit but im not sure its gona solve his problem or not. Anyway, what do you guys recommend ? Oh yea his car is lowered on Eibach Springs. For some reason mine rear tires is wear evenly eventhough I have H&R which lower than his.

MB technicians told me that the root cause of sigificant tire wear on Rear-Right was traction control.

Does this make sense?

Maybe alignment problems? Maybe his daily driving involves lots of right turns.

Damn I'm putting the V12's on in a week. Hope I don't have that problem.
