Oil Level

I always check my oil level in Dyno mode.

Should I check it when the oil is hot (15-30 minutes after I stop the car) or when the oil is cold (the next morning)? Surely there will be difference in these 2 readings.

On my C240 M112 engine I always checked in the morning before a cold start. Good enough!

Yes - when I had her it used to display 7.5 litre & the quick check used to display level "OK"

There is a very old thread on the W203 forum with me trying to work out the total capacity of the system. There was a discrepency in MB's published numbers & there are no ways we could ever drain enough to get 8.5 litres in without a high level warning..

I looked back some of my old threads and there was a discussion on this oil level, I reported my oil level at that time was 7.9 L.

Currently, at the morning start, I see 7.4-7.5 L. I wonder should I add a little oil now...

Guys, i don't have that feature in CLK (2003 - European Not American Car). I cannot go into Dyno mode to check the oil level.. might that be because i need to update the software(firmware) of the car so i can have that feature? i check it only through Idle non-running & it only gives "Oil Level Check O.K."

A 2003 CLK240 should have dyno mode. My 2003 C240 had it.

i followed the same procedure on 2 CLK240 2003 and ended up with nothing (mine & my friend's car)
i performed the same procedure on a CLK320 2004 and got Dyno mode, so i am doing the procedure correct.

On our W204 it's like on Audi, there is an alarm when the level is to low or we have to check absolutely by ourself?

Finally figured out how to go Dyno on my car, followed the same process set for a C32:

(these are copied from https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...nt-know-2.html POST #41)
Dyno Mode
To Dyno your C32, you will need to do the following:
1. To start, the key must be removed from the ignition.
2. Insert the key and turn to position 1.
3. Immediately press and hold the trip odometer reset button until the instrument cluster beeps. There is no visual message, only an audio beep. Be patient, this takes around 40 seconds.
4. Press the lower menu button (it looks like two sheets of paper, the one with the writing in the background behind the blank one) 5. Press the up arrow button.
6. Press the "+" sign to disable the Traction System (turn "ON" test mode) 7. Start the engine, the traction system is now disabled.
To return to normal, remove the key and restart the engine. The traction control warning should no longer be in the cluster. If it is, shut the engine off and remove the key again. Then insert the key and turn to position 1. Note that the DYNO test screen is displayed immediately. Push the "-" button to enable the traction system (turn "OFF" test mode)
NOTE: When you first turn the key to position 1, ESP DYNO Test screen pops up, then after 1-2 seconds it may disappear while faults are displayed. If you weren't fast enough in pressing the "-" button before codes were displayed, just wait until all codes cycle by, then the ESP DYNO Test screen will reappear.
I used the Speed display on the cluster as my default.

The 3 clicks did not work for my car

This is how I go the dyno mode with my 2004 CLK320:

1. Make sure the dispaly is on temperature before I shut off the engine.
2. Insery key and turn key to position 1.
3. Press the reset button 3 times.

I will hear a beep and now I am in dyno mode.
