Oil Change???

Im going to be getting an oil change today and I had a few questions since Im not going to the dealer because the oil light came on and they don't have an opening for another week. I'm going to take it to a highly recommended shop for Mercedes and BMW's and Im going to take my own Mobile 1 0-40w oil... I'm just a little curious about the oil filter. What brand is oem and are they all the same or do I need to get a certain brand? Also, the Mobile 1 0-40w is what the suggested at the dealer is this the best? Thanks!

Make sure you use a fleece filter from Mann & Hummel. Available as Genuine Benz, Mann, Bosch & K&N.

For what its worth, oil changes on the w209 are EASY. Get yourself an oil extractor and the whole change can be done in 20min.

Yep, with an extractor like this one:

I can change my oil without getting under the car or getting dirty and worrying about spilled oil. It's easy - EASY!

Thanks for the responses! I would love to do it myself but I honestly don't feel like dealing with transporting the oil to get rid of it. Especially since the W209 is my only car... I don't even want to think about the potential mess! hahah

I have an appointment for tomorrow and I bought 9 quarts of the Mobile 1 0-40w along with a genuine oil filter from the dealer.

I had the Mitvac 7.2L extractor and the synthetic oil killed the seals (known issue)

I had an issue with my Mityvac - it stopped pumping. I found the suction/empty valve was loose. I've done dozens of Mobil 1 changes with it and no problems. And $wager, the thing I like about the Mityvac is that I leave the oil in it and take it to the recycler, then pull the rubber plug on top and dump it into the vat - no worries with putting the used oil into other containers to transport. As long as you're careful, there will be no leaks or mess.

The instructions suck.

I took the fittings apart and put teflon tape on them. Much better.

Which cleaner does one use to wash out the canister between uses? I am afraid of using something too harsh that might attack the seals. Dishwasher detergent?

Why wash it? Half the time, mine sits around with 8 quarts of oil in it because I'm too lazy to run down to Advance Auto and dump it.
