'08/09 CLK Driver Side, Rear Speaker Needed

Anyone willing to part with the rear driver side sub-woofer/multi speaker unit? Doesn't need to work. I want to see if I can rebuild it to replace a distorting one in my 2009 CLK 550. Has the factory Logic 7 speaker system for Harmon Kardon. Part number is A209 820 19 02. Thanks, Steve

Why not see if you can fit an aftermarket subwoofer of similar impedance in there? It might take a bit of modification, but you would have a better sub afterwards. I thought about going this route a while back (just for fun), but the removal of the old sub proved to be more work than I cared to do.

I've been looking into that but there's nothing out there close to fitting the space in the rear deck plus there are 3 different speakers in this unit. So I'm looking for a junk unit that I can play around with and just replace the woofer part on the botton.

Gotcha. If you change your mind, there's someone modified the bracket and installed a Kicker sub, and it supposedly worked pretty well. Only problem is that he didn't use a shallow-mount sub, so he wasn't able to fit the factory grille back on (the sub was exposed in the rear deck). But I'm guessing with a shallow-mount sub, it may very well be feasible. And it would probably sound better than factory.

Here's the thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...subwoofer.html

Thanks, I had read that thread and was planning to do something similar and like you said, see if I can find a shallower sub that will work without cutting out the metal under the rear shelf.

That's not quite accurate. There are plenty of Under-the-seat subwoofer systems - albeit they include an amplifier. But the driver is certainly low profile on those.

I don't think there's enough room under any of the seats for a speaker. What about a spare tire sub?

Did you measure or are you guessing? I looked at several under seat, powered subwoofers and they range in height from 2in to 4in.
