CLK RATTLE

Hi everyone, so I’ve had this constant rattle issue for the past few months and I just can’t seem to find the culprit, as the car picks up speed the rattle gets louder, in trying to fix the rattle I’ve spent a ton of money trying to get rid of the rattle, however the issue continues and the unbearable rattle. The following parts have been replaced which were recommended by different mechanics, it’s been to Mercedes specialist and they can’t seem to find anything.
  • Disc’s+Pads
  • wheel Bearings
  • Inner Tie Rods
  • Track Rods
  • Water Pump+Thermostat
Any support would be appreciated greatly, Thanks,Jimmy. VIDEO INCLUDED

MB’s
Coupe or Cabriolet? Is it an interior rattle? Is the rattle plastic? Metallic sound? Any chance you can make another video so we can try to narrow it down.

Gas or diesel?

How old is the belts?

Some of them just came like that, I know my 550 has a rattle near the passanger dashboard, but it is very quiet. Many MBWorld posts from between 2006 to now have had complaints but I think that is just a characteristic of some of them.

Not sure if I'm listening to the correct noise, the constant rattle like something in the spokes of a bike?

Sounds silly but does it still do it if you turn off the interior fan? Or even try pulling the engine fan fuse.

It sounds like a plastic rattle. It’s a coupe diesel, I’m assuming it’s the timing chain your talking about, that I think is still the original one from factory, as for the pulley belt that’s also new which I’ve put on two weeks ago.

This started all of a sudden like two months ago when I started the car in the morning and took off it hadn’t done that previously. It sounds like it’s hitting something or catching onto something.

Sounds a tiny bit similar to the spokes of a bike spinning or a turbine spinning and has caught onto something.Still rattles if I turn the interior fan off, it probably will cause disco lights to flash up on the dash if I were to take the engine fan fuse. But I’ll definitely look into the fan as I haven’t really paid any attention to that.

It's fine to pull the fuse and start the car. Did it the other day.

Mine's a pre-facelift W209 but the fuse is in the box under the bonnet on the right hand side (left hand side as you're looking at the engine). Opposite side to the battery. On mine I remove the piece of cover trim and then unclip the lid of the fuse box.

Inside the car on the driver's side at the end of the dash there's a removeable piece of trim that covers more fuses. Tucked in there should be a folded paper fuse location diagram.
