___PTE___ project
I watch the forum & read it daily. My car is a 2003 CLK 5.5 AMG I've got the heads off it & porting them. Spent some time in front of a Flow bench trying to measure the stock Flow in CFM.
I found the intake side pretty good. 149 CFM @ .500 valve lift . The exhaust is not to bad. 104 CFM @ .500 Valve lift. That is 70% as spec ratio Exhaust to Intake flow. That's what we like to see for a performance N/A engine for street use. And keep the emissions to Federal US EPA specs.
My next move is to increase both and try to keep to the 70% ratio . The exhaust port in this motor & your blower motor are the same. They have a large protrusion on both sides , in the bowl area that restricts the out going exhaust flow. These protrusions are there to make internal space for the twin spark plugs.
I'm also working on installing gauges on a panel that fits in the space just below the radio. I do not have a Nav unit so that area is just for glove & such stuff. One gauge will be Vacuum & Boost , the other will be air temp In the blower housing. Chris @ C2Design. Is working with me on a Kleemann blower set up. Now you know why I've been quiet

I bet your cams will make more H.P. after all is said and done. I wish they made a more aggresive cam selection, like for American cars. I think everyone believes Mercedes owners are performance oriented enough to be able to spec their own cams. Instead we get the generic "here's your high performance cam". I suspect the reason your cams didn't buy much is that they are a f/i grind. Kleemann specs them for use with their blowers. They can't have too much overlap, in fact I would bet they have less than the stock cams. Think you could publish those specs?

Very nice work. Great to see members examining our engines for more performance.
I would be very interested in a custom gauge set-up for the same spot below the radio as I also do not have the Nav system and would love to place some gauges there. Maybe an EGT, A/F or other gauge for me as I do not have a SC. Please keep us posted and possible costs for replicating the custom housing for the gauges. Thanks in advance.

Good Job, these are the same numbers we got on our set. Compared to most 4-valve heads they are OK, but with blower it will make a noticeable difference.
Have fun with more power.

Being no expert I have to ask, you state that 70% ratio of exhaust to intake flow is what is preffered for a healthy N/A motor. Would you say that keeping this 70% would be the same for a F/I motor or would opening up the exhaust side be more effecient for an F/I application? Also, these twin spark plug bulges you speak of, are they a limiter in opening up the exhaust side?
Lastly, nice blower. Does kleemann mount the IAT and boost fittings already on the blower case or did you install that? If so, hell yeah for kleemann.

Wow, nice work!
Please let us know the gains with port and polishing the heads, as well as the cams. I dont feel there is much to gain with the cams but I've been looking into port and polishing the heads for a while. I just shifted gears from racing to showing but I want to start racing again. ![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
NitrogenBalance- Mine doesnt have the fittings, I think it was custom.

Some answers to the Q ?
Lets work back through the threads
NitrogenBalance. I did the fittings & Temp sender. I used Dakota Digital Gauges for the console area. The Bulges the the exhaust bowl area , do limit the exhaust flow , and you cann't grind them completing out. There is a small water passage between the inside of the water passage next to the bulge on the exhaust & the inside of the spark plug machined install passage. . It is only .020 wide.but I wasn't willing to chance a coolant leak. . I still learning about F/I motors , so I don't know if the 70% rule applies.
Suicidal4life. I stuck with OEM valve to keep the cost down & help keep track of what works. I've already change more things than I like. . Cost was $2500.00 Just call Mike @ MJ

Chappy I'm trying
Thanks guy's

Valve spring Specs
Hi Folks: My Main PC took a hi from lighting
. So I'm limited to posting Pictures. As engineering Buddys, we like to post true numbers , on any changes we have made, We may not know when to come in out of the rain,
It is our focus & dedication to record true facts at the best of our capibility. So we may have some repetibility on Our Mods. Although I did not go as full out as others on the porting. I did post some flow bench Numbers. We also used a (J)tip on the end of the probe, As recommended By Jim McFarland & Smokey Yunick.
Well Todays post is the Valve spring height assy & pressures . Happy Motoring from the SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS ___PTE___
You May want to Visit the W-211 threads & Type in project___PTE___ . I've got some good Flow bench Pictures there

Keep up the good work!! If it's ever convenient please post up some info on your Dakota Dig. temp gauge and how you used it as an IAT. I have had terrible luck finding an autometer IAT gauge to match my current. They made them but stopped production so I have to hunt Ebay. Otherwise it's change all three gauges. I looked at some digital temp gauges but was told in order for it to be an "IAT" gague it would have to sample temps super fast as they fluctuate quickly with throttle input.
Drawings look cool bud!!! Don't know nearly enough to say "uh huh". Kinda brings back memories of my collage years studying structural engineering and countless drawings every night.....shoot me.

___PTE___ Project
Hello : my project is getting close to a Dyno run & Track testing. The car is back together. I had some issues with the Cam shaft postion sensor (it went open which sitting on the bench for over a year
, Crankshaft postion sensor was on its way out , Measured .703 K ohms . New one measures 1.130 K ohms. Had a Po-102 err code. Very expensive MAS air flow sensor assy. Yahl , U'all ( LOL) ESP sensor was bad, All were replace & my err codes went away. All I can say Now IS Whooa, Crap
Hold on PATTY. Picture of the completed engine are coming soon!

PTE,
That is great news. So it will have the Supercharger on the motor and Kleeman headers and your hot to go cams.
It should rip.
Please PM me on what tools I would need to buy from MB to remove the head. I have two broken exhaust manifold studs that need to be removed and would like to take off the head, clean up the ports and reassemble the thing. What did the ESP valve set you back? Did you buy new or used?
Good luck on start-up.
Jeff

Pictures of Kleemann blower
So far No belt slip or sights of belt dust. As you can see & went to a Optima Red top #35r. to help off set the weight of the blower. I made a special hold down clamp to kept it in place. I also install a AMW PVC system oil / vapor catch can. I moved the Electric Termacker pump up by the left side radiator support. I installed the 240 270 00 89 blue top, transmission pressure contol valves. All system are very serviceable. I walked the local Dealer around the car. And the systems. he felt very comfortable , as they service the brake & ESP system. Of course I left him a Nice Bottle of TiTo's Vodka. Many Thanks to Cory @ Kleemann USA for putting up with my adventure. cheers _PTE_

I'll put those kleeman pics on my favorites so I can drool!
Nice touches with the battery hold down and the catch can.
Is blowby a big issue on these AMG 5.5's with boost? I had serious blowby on my 5.0 blown mustangs after 70k miles..... so much so that you could see white smoke at idle.... how much fuild do you get in the catch can every week?
Thanks, nice build sir PTE....![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
