THE blower thread
45Deg F Weather
I've been getting a random lean left/right bank - so decided to pull the air boxes and inspect everything. It seems the elbow from the mass air meter to the TB is wanting to pop off which is not good. I've secured it with the help of a big zip tie.
I'm thinking there has to be a better way to do this.... perhaps with a custom al elbow with silicone couplers and worm clamps on the TB and MASS AIR METER. The thought of this elbow popping off @ WOT at the track makes me nervous. I'll work something up over the next few weeks. So far my zip tie seems to be holding.
Projects:
1. IPOD interface - took about 3 hours to install tonight. And man is this stereo pretty decent now that I got rid of that junky stock 6 disc changer. 2
2. While I had the radio out I scouted good places for the wideband box and the display. That's my next project. I'll want that wideband installed BEFORE hitting the track just to be sure all is good.
3. Perrinn oil catch can. When I pulled the MAS and elbow off which goes to the TB.... there was pretty good oil residue in that breather recirc hose port from the valve cover, so I know I'm getting oil blowby. The catch can will capture that oil residue.
4. Hardwire V1 detector with multicolored readout display with AFR dig readout in cell phone pocket. Going to use smoked lexan over the AFR and V1 display, so you see nothing until they are hot.
5. Drag-radial install on stock 17" wheels. Tires are sitting on the bench, just need to get to the tire shop.

I'll hit the track after I get my AFR gage installed..... not taking any chances.
Really curious what your beast will rip down the 1320. 11's should not be a problem.

Can be done much cheaper then that. I had my W210 mirror done for around $500.

There are 3 nipples on the valve covers that need to be sent through the catch can.
2 small nipples (one on each valve cover) will tie into the throttle body, just after the blade. You will feel oil on the inside, so I know oil is getting sent to my TB.
1 larger nipple is on the drivers-side valve cover, which ties into below the mass air meter in the 90 deg elbow below the MAS but before the TB. This also had oil residue on the inside.
I tee'd all 3 valve cover nipples into one line into the catch can, then ran the outlet tee'd back into both the nipple on the thottle body, and the nipple on the 90 deg elbow between the MAS and TB.
The perrinn catch can has a clear site tube.... so I can monitor to see if I'm getting measurable blowby of oil.

Btw, love the pictures, wheels look great!
Just pulled the Renntech intake from the ML... I'll see if I notice a diff with the stock intake... if I don't I'll sell that Renntech intake for a lower price. $800 +ship lower 48 states.

I know that the w208 guys put the 209box for a gain, so it should work great.
Get some 12's SIR!!!! That is an order
I had a 3" hiflow resonator installed before the AMG muff and got rid of the raspy sound... much better.
I also had the nipple welded on the drivers-side down pipe (cory said that is the critical side to watch for deto)..... Wideband get's installed this weekend with custom display.
Getting dr's installed on spare set of 17" wheels.
