Front fender flaws

Does anyone else see flaws on their front fenders either right above the 6.3 logo or around the vents? On a few it even looks like a dent. Dealers say it's normal cause of the composite materials used to make the fenders.

It's how they blended the widebody carbon into the sheet metal right before it meets the door, which is metal, and the A pillar. I noticed mine upon delivery. I saw one side and thought it was a ding...but it turns out its a tiny bend. Look closely at both sides.

I noticed it on both sides of my car... it looks like 2 pull marks right near the 6.3 from where the fenders bolt on to the body at the leading door edge area.

so its safe to say that these dings on the fenders come standard with the car?? Is there any way to fix them at all if not by the dealers?

Why fix something the factory put there for a reason ? It's not a ding either, it's a crease and it's how they made the widebody conversion from a narrow body CLK. Personally I think it just makes the car more unique.

As far as I am concerned it does not look like a crease but instead a big dent. Having only had the car for 2 weeks and have family/friends ask if someone dented my car does not make it unique to me. So you guys are ok with a flaw just cause it came from the factory like that?

I really have no idea what everyone is talking about. I see nothing that looks like a dent or crease on mine. The body looks perfectly smooth around the front flares and the 6.3. If people think your car looks dented, then you have a problem. Pictures would help.

thats weird, mine looks nothing like that either, maybe certain colors are more susceptible to the denting effect?

Just to pipe in, my BS is white, and looks nothing like that either. Completely smooth (i.e. a reflection of light is straight across unlike what the pic shows).

Strange, but not really that strange as these cars were all handbuilt as are the hand laid carbon front fenders. Mine is silver and has the creases...I'll see if I can get a photo as it's very hard to see unless you are in the right light/angle etc.

Maybe it's a build sequence issue that has been corrected.
Are the cars affected early builds...?
Mine is and it has the creases.

As far as I know all the new delivered BS at the dealers around me are smooth and do not have the creases or dents. My BS is an early build(6/07) and as far as my dealer is concerned there is nothing they can do if I am the only one concerned. If more ppl with early builds that have the creases speak up and complain then perhaps we have a chance at getting something done.

That seems backwards to me. If you are the only one concerned, then your car is defective and they have to correct it. The more people affected, the more likely they are to claim that was the way the early cars were designed. Either way, the fact that the newer ones have been "corrected" would seem to weigh in your favor either way. I would think the only way to fix it would be to replace the fenders.

Fender Creases

After reading that some do and some don't... I started a poll to see if there is a pattern to this fender crease issue.

Please visit it and Vote if you have found Creases in your CLK63 BS.

I am just going on what my dealer is telling me. Either way I expect something to be done to my satisfaction.

None in mine and it's a 8/7 build and Mars red.

I understand the concern, but I don't think you're going to find dealers wiling to replace these fenders. I could be wrong, but at the same time I certainly wouldn't want to replace mine for a few reasons but most importantly, paint. If you did get new panels, they wouldn't come painted with the factory nano tech paint so you'd have to have a local body shop spray them and I guarantee you it will not be as good as factory applied paint. Sure, it might LOOK perfect, but it won't be the same and potentially decrease the value since these are such limited production cars. I'd rather just live with what I consider a characteristic that makes the car more unique and shows it was one of the first cars produced.
