M278 to M157 turbos and AMG fuel pumps?
#101
Okay thanks. I was really trying to find a place where I can add the second pump but I didn't figure out the place for it. If you can put two pumps and that huge 4.5l extra radiator it should work great!
I will have my final custom ECU tune session in mid. September. Lets see how much power the shooting brake can produce then. After that I can also Dragy 0-60mph, 100-200km/h and 1/4 mile again.
Have u think about the TCU tune? I think it would be must to your set up too.
I will send you a PM later.

i'll do tcu tune sometime next year, i have also blow off valve in my to do list, later this month going to install additional pump and new cooler. Btw anyone building m278 on amg turbos, Only 1 side of fuel pump needs to be changed part number: A 218 470 04 94, second pump is actually in tank fuel filter on 550 models and it's exactly same as in 63 models changing it gives zero difference unless it's very dirty.

Yes some people have done that way. There are two things i would think before using the "old" filter and not change to new one. First there is FPR on bottom on the filter, is it same on 550 and AMG? Maybe it can effect fuel delivery. And second is if u change fuel pump why not change the new filter in same time.

The AMG second fuel pump is not a pump, that''s right.
But at least on my 2011 the wiring is very different and I did not manage to run AMG fuel pump yet
hence I bought the second part, too, to swap altogether.

Yes the wiring is different. You must cut the brown wire. You can see it in Gardevski built thread, post 208, wrote by squantum1 and a picture on that also. So thanks for him.

New personal best Dragy 0-100kp/h today with this heavy pig. Old was 3,47s and now 3,39s. Still just conservative base tune on. PS4s did help.

On tuesday 28.10 next week is the final ECU tuning dyno session. Im assuming that the final crank horsepower is something between 660hp-680hp. And more interesting to do is Dragy the car after that and see how it can perform in real world, no just dyno results.

After tuning session I did Dragy the car 1/4 mile. I did get personal best time. Valid time was 11.09s and trap speed 128.33mp/h. Slope -0,35
Invalid Dragy (too much slope/downhill times were 10.94s and 129.42 trap, Second 10.97s and 130,74 trap.
Just pump gas, no meth, no black boost.... yet

My this years goal is to go under 11s on 1/4 mile. Some mods to try and a little time left before winter comes.
Heres a picture on this spring.

Yes new personal best 0-60! Im really looking forward to try 1/4 mile and 100kp/h-200kp/h pulls. Weather here is really bad day to day, so I hope I can do those in this season.
Also my intake temps were 7-10c above ambient on cruising speeds before BB intake. After BB intake temps are 4-6c over ambient! So on longer pulls I assume the temps are really lower with BB.

Special thanks go to Blackboost intakes and my great tuner in Finland Motorbit! What a tuner that man!

that is amazing!!!!!
i have recently had a pair of M157 turbos Built with bigger turbines ,
did you upgrade any of the cooling in your car or has it just been , the 1 "in tank" fuel pump. intake and turbos? are you using your factory down pipes and the bridge pipes from the m157 turbos.
congrats on the numbers man

Yes I did add extra heat exchanger (E63 original) on passenger side bumper and connect that on center IC heat exchanger line after IC pump, with custom hoses. You can find some part numbers etc. on this topic. Replace IC pump on same time, my old one was not working good at all.
M278 factory downpipes can't be used in this combo. They are just 60mm (2,36") too tiny. Yes you can use M157 downpipes if you gut the cats. M157 downpipes are 70mm (2,75"). I have Redstar 3" downpipes and E63 AMG cat back now, but I will upgrade that with full 3". I will upgrade extra heat exchanger soon also.
I think bridge pipes are same on M278 and M157. And they are restrictive. If you can, upgrade those. If u have 4 matic then u must upgrade engine mounts also..bigger bridge pipes don't fit if you don't modify/get different engine mounts on 4 magic.
You need to think TCU tune because torque will rise a lot if you go M157 turbos. After TCU tune Firmer shifts, increased line pressure, increased hold pressure etc. And u can't use your new power on 1-3 gears because original TCU limits torque.

I Have now installed true 3" cat back. We did remove 2,75" E63 cat back off. It was pancaked here and there and was only 2,25" in some points. So there's better flow now all the way through..

This is going in next season. Its about 1,2liter bigger than E63S extra heat exchanger that I have now. Its not gonna be bolt on, not even near

nice square. Are you doing one or two squares?

Im doing just IC system one. I will send a picture when my car was going to turbo upgrade, so you can see that windshield washer reservoir is in the way and needs to remove and replace somewhere if someone wants to get extra engine water cooler there. Also needs custom hoses etc. Also in the passenger side there were webasto system that we need to remove and go custom hoses so that we could install the extra IC heat exchanger then.
