Best Tune for 2005 E320 CDI
Hey Guys
I just got a 2005 E320 CDI with 85k on it and would like to close up the EGR and maybe get a little more power. I have seen some older trends on this but was looking to see what available in today's market. Thanks in advance.

Do not do any cheap BS like spoofing fuel pressure regulator into allowing 30,000 psi injection pressure. I’ve had my current version of GDE in for over 100,000 miles, actually been running a reflash since about 90k miles, maybe 80k. EGR has been gone since then and totally removed along with a host of other mods for last 80-90k miles. $695 is a good enough deal for me, I charge folks a lot more than that for some of the dyno work I do for a living. If you peruse the performance related threads mine is the black W211 with no cat, hand build turbo back exhaust, and side pipes exiting rear bumper, just to be unique I guess. I’m also running a slightly larger intercooler, OM648 truck manifold with no swirl valves etc. GDE is just a OBDII flash tool and a full power map which if car is suitable modified makes zero detectable smoke, gets amazing actual fuel economy and makes a ton of torque. This winter while the car is down for a major service it will be apart again and I’ll take some more pics. Thinking of upping compressor wheel size and bit more intercooler.
The GDE flash is a very good starting point for basic mods, I’ve seen no drawbacks unlike friends who have gone for power by running MUCH higher injection pressures. My GDE flash file is limited to 23,650 psi max at rail. This is only 650 psi more pressure than stock.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like GDE is a safe way to go. I like the idea of completely removing the EGR. Did you fab something up or does someone offer a kit to block it off once it is electronically removed?

All custom fabrication, nobody makes off the shelf parts I’ve found for these motors, not saying they are not out there, just I have not seen them. The only modified stock part I’m in love with is the semi stock airbox and stock air filter on the intake side. Ridding the car of EGR is as simple as turning it off in the reflash, or as complex as my manifold. Recirculated exhaust gas passes THROUGH the rear of the cylinder head when enabled...didn’t like that or the carbon buildup inside my manifold and runners, not allowing crankcase ventilation to inlet side of turbocharger and not allowing EGR really cleans this up. One of the next steps is a new water/methanol strategy when I get around to winter and new AEM 5 gallon system with dual nozzles added, one before and one after intake air temp sender. No more 55C boost limiting for me...

I'm trying to remap the om648 320 CDI. Goal is 580 nm en 240 bhp. Anyone has a modded file for the edc 16c2?
I use kess v2 to read write on bios. Anyone some experience with customizing this map?
I have the original file. If someone needs it I can post it.

I work at dealer but buddy works at a indy euro shop and they do some my diesel stuff and do Malone tuning. I've asked him about them since I have 2 diesels and it sounds like it works well. I'll be going with that tune if I ever do it. I've talked with gde and didn't really like what they had to say

GDE tune
I just emailed GDE and they are no longer selling tunes. Something about new EPA rules.
Does anyone know if GDE tunes can be purchased second hand? Is there something about the process that makes them vehicle specific? I know they email you a tune file after getting your stock tune sent to them. Not sure if it is tweaked based on your particular stock file.

I was going to get GDE flash tool, but unfortunately they don't sell it anymore.
I do have 2 cdi and would love to remap my EGR and intake manifold,
Do you think I can use a similar tool in order to remap it?

It allowed me to remove the dpf which improved the responsiveness of the engine getting rid of the major restriction, which allowed me to use a better protecting oil for the engine. Since no longer having to worry about messing up the dpf. Not to mention the cost to replace.
if I had the urea injection, which I don’t I could remove that as well. It did however also let me turn off the swirl motor so saves the need to repair which seems to be a common failure.
then there is the fact that it also turns off the egr which polluted the intake having the door mix with the oil from the CCV to form a restrictive tar on the intake. I plan in the future remove the egr plumbing completely and have the intake cleaned when I go after the oil cooler seals.
the tune also changes the engine and transmission mapping for better drivability and fuel efficiency.
I am sure there are other benefits but this was the reason I chose it. Enough for me, esp on a cost benefit comparison. It was priceless.

What do the stock injectors support? I would love to see 300 HP out of the old girl. (2003 but only 60,000 Miles on)
