P2454 Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor A Circuit

My 2011 E350 Bluetec is showing "P2454 Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor A Circuit" code. The car has 67000 miles on it. I purchased it when it had 61000 miles. Is it the sensor that needs replacement or the DPF? Suggestions to fix? Thanks and appreciate in advance.

Did you have or previous owner have the AEM done? Is it still under that warranty? If so take it in as the DPF was part of that modification.

@Quint22 Thank you. I just checked and it appears that my car had emission modification done in 2022. Please see below. It is still under warranty and should be covered. Is that true?

Looks like it, would definitely go down that route before forking out bunch of money. Sounds like usually its the sensor that is bad from what I read so not sure how that would play out with the dealer. I dont recall what the regular emissions warranty is that covers all the emissions stuff. Usually in the US anyways there is a separate emissions warranty that is not related to the powertrain warranty.

Anyhow good luck.

I dropped the car at a Mercedes dealership with the hope that the pressure sensor replacement will be covered under AEM warranty. The service advisor sent me message this morning saying "NEED TO REPLACE THE DPF FILTER AND BOTH DPF PRESSURE SENSORS" and the estimate is around $2200.00. The error code showed ""P2454 Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor A Circuit". What do you all think and suggest? Do I have to replace the DPF filter? It is costly. Car has only 64K miles. It is 2011 Bluetech E350. Thanks.

I may have missed it. The current mileage is around 67K - for sure under 68K. Don't know of alternatives and that is what I am seeking advice. Are the dealers suggesting replacing the DPF as well when only the sensor needs replacement? Should I take it to a non-dealer and have only the sensor replaced? With 67K miles, should the DPF need replacement?

If the below post is accurate, the DPF should absolutely be covered under the AEM warranty. Need to verify with your service advisor. If they really won't cover it then it's time find an independent and likely start with the pressure sensor.

This means that the DPF was replaced at 65K and now it is around 67K and dealer is asking for replacement again. It should be covered under warranty.

The dealership informed me that the repair (replacing DPF and sensor) will be covered under warranty and there is no out-of-pocket cost. Thanks everyone for your advice and feedback. This group is awesome!

I don't understand why they didn't tell you that in the first place...

Not sure if they're addressing the underlying problem, though. Why is a new DPF needing replacement, unless the pressure sensor failed to trigger a regen cycle.

They had to get apoproval from their warranty department, which took a day. It's all well that ends well.

Not to belabor the point, but, did they tell you that, or just hand you the multi-thousand dollar estimate?

Yeah would like to know as it sounds like some shisty buggers work there. Warranty work is paid on a set rate per the manufacturer, they get less then being able to bend over a customer on there dime.
